Car sound - Autostyle

Targa makes some decent car audio products. I would hold on to the amp and sub. Try getting rid of the 6x9s in favour of a split system up front and a set of co-axials in the rear.

Just don't get into another car that has splits. I had 6x9s in my cars for about 4 years before upgrading to co-axials up-front and later to splits. You will get to a point where you just fade out the 6x9s because of the crappy sound.

Or if you want to prevent distortion, adjust the amp so that you only allow high frequencies to pass through the 6x9's. But that kind of defeats the purpose, because you may as well just get a split system that allows for both high and midrange frequencies at high volumes. 6x9's and 7x10's are intended for use if you don't have a sub.
 
Mids, crossover, splits, coaxials, etc. I'm not that well educated when it comes to sound. So can someone put a final recommendation so that I can save up for that? Using that autostyle website, can you url all the components I need to buy for the next upgrade?

agh im not for big sound thats why i had 1 12" and that was enough but the bastids broke in and stole it

want to buy another set but money is bad lol

I bought the wiring for about R280. I will go for installation on Saturday. I haven't had a "decent" sound system since 2008. Can't wait to have it installed. My radio doesn't play mp3 and I suppose I'll have to buy those transmitters that you plug on the cigarette thingy. Hope it still works since I don't smoke and hardly test it.

Better hope he knows what he's doing then ;) An enclosure for your sub that is tailor made for your car makes all the difference, you don't just want a random box with a port.

I'm not really referring to the filtering, you want to filter all the speakers anyway to only play what they can/should.

The 6x9's are good for mid base so you want them to play in that frequency.

What I was talking about is the air pressure from the subs pushing against the cones of the 6x9's, in some installs I've seen the cones were totally pushed against their top extension every time the subs would play and thus they would sound terrible.
 
Make sure everything sounds ok to you when you leave the installer. Put you sound up to half volume and take a drive around the block. You don't want a whining sound when you accelerate.

The enclosure I got is just a random one. I'm sure it will move backward and forward and sideways since it will be loose. If I had R3k, I would have a decent setup. But for now I will have to work with what I have.
 
I would still prefer an experienced person to work on my car. Who you going to blame if your car burns out?
