Cell C Data Potential FIX

Hey guys, Please post response if u got it working on other devices and codes to make those changes.

If you can't find a code you can always use AT commands to communicate with your device. On my modem I am also on the 900mhz band and nothing else. I was under the impression the 2100mhz band was 3G, which in turn would make it Vodacom. I get a lot of burst speed under 2100mhz and found a lot of my downloads are corrupt downloading on Cell C on that frequency.

I have a S2 running CM10.1, i dont see this menu coming up after that code in step 1, is it like dialing a USSD?

Try this code:
*#197328640# (Service Mode)
Select Debug Mode then follow the steps in my post

What is the impact of doing this in terms of coverage? Because it locks you to a single band, won't you be out of coverage a lot more than you would be with the phone autoselecting?

If you want to enable auto select best network, go to mobile settings and select auto (gsm/wcdma) and your phone will select the best signal.

My method will allow you to manually select the 2100mhz which is working

I wouldn't be so sure. On Huawei and ZTE modems frequency setting is independent to 3G/2G settings and automatic/manual network selection.

Thing is, it hardly ever selects 2100 - it defaults to 900 on auto-select?
I'm trying to avoid having to change stuff all the time.
I guess the answer is for cell c to fix their ***?

Does anyone know the Huawei code?

Its a S7 Tablet

When you connect S7 to PC using USB cable, do you see Huawei modem device in device manager? If yes, then the easiest way is to use MDMA beta. Working nice on Huawei devices.

The method i posted is for Phones and not USB Dongles. For usb modems u have to use the AT command and i haven't investigated that at the moment. Will have a look this weekend and post codes for usb modems.

Hopefully i find the correct codes :)

Incidentally I found another menu setting-combo bands in which you can select more than one band, so I have gsm 900 and wcdma 2100 selected. Tried this because in my drive home I found many dead spots on 2100

Isn't Cell-C's GSM on 1800MHz?

No throughout on 2100 in Sandton either
