Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Frequent disconnections in Cape Town fixed?

After several months of getting 40 or more disconnections per day, I see that my router now reports no disconnections for over 16 hours.

Interesting, because I had 22 disconnects from 6pm last night to 6am.
So far this morning, 6 disconnects from 6am till now.
I am near N1 City in the Northern suburbs.

Yes, I think CellC in Cape Town (well, in Plumstead at any rate) is ok again. All we need now are cheaper prices (you'all listening there CellC?)

Just had a connection drop at 19:11 on both my Cell C HTC and MikroTik RB751U with Cell C ZTE MF190.
HTC reconnected, but MF190 is sitting with a solid red indicator, reports Tx and Rx RF circuits off and will not reconnect.

AT+CFUN? returns +CFUN: 4

Whatever just happened now, which I presume was some disconnect from the Cell C side, has so upset the MF190, it will not recover and I will probably have to run my AT+ZRST reset script.

This has been my observation many times now that whatever Cell C's network disconnect is doing, this particular ZTE MF190 does not recover by itself and will just remain "hung" forever, without user intervention. :(

***Edit:
and it just happened again at around 19:35...same story.

Pathetic connection in the CBD this morning. Constant disconnects and slow performance. Wasted 50mb on incompleted downloads and then inserted my GF's Vodacom sim and completed the download in under 3mins.

Again confirming that when my Cell C data runs out at the end of May I will be going elsewhere.

Which CBD?

I have been experiencing Problems ZTE MF190 modem which I purchased a month ago with the 3gb cap special. The sim i received has given me a slow connection and drops constantly although my own prepaid sim has a data bundle and gives me a secure fast reliable connection......I am in the Glenvista ext3 area JHB South .....I use Windows 7 Home 32 bit !!! A response would be appreciated

In Bellville, connection dismal since yesterday 2pm...roundabout.

Stays on EDGE.
RSSI -99dBm

I have HUAWEI E1820 dongle.

It's a bit better now but still very slow in BELLVILLE.
cellc-speed-test-4

Down 110 kbps
Up 344 kbps
Latency 886 ms

So frustrating! Argh. I wish I was able to get some kind of working internet. I can't go with adsl because of congestion problems and CellC in the evenings are sometimes unusable also because of congestion problems.

15 May. That's when Diablo 3 comes out and it needs a stable connection with good ping times. I just don't know what to do anymore. :(
