Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Someone from customer care called me yesterday to ask me if I'm happy with my current services, and she was battling to hear me. She eventually asked if there's a land line around where she can call me on as the call quality was bad. FAIL!!

I'm in the Summerstrand Area mostly, close to NMMU. I use the Vodafone K3772-Z modem and got the GigaNite 20 data plan. I used to get 5Mbps - 6Mbps most of the time, now I get anything between 0.8Mbps to 3.8Mbps and maybe a short random time when there is no Internet Access, both on my modem and my phone.

I'm also often around there as I'm a student. I generally get a solid connection. Have you spoken to Cell C or tried your data sim in a phone?

I tried plugging the Sim Card into my phone and use the phone as a modem, that didnt work. I also tried to open up a web page on my phone (www.google.com), that didn't work either.

I think I will PM the Cell C Rep around here. I just experienced this issue just now, but it was for like 30 - 40 Minutes of no connectivity. I did a ping to mybroadband, all timed out.

Another thing I have started to notice now is when i'm in certain area's of campus, there is no connectivity.

The rear half of South Campus seems to get sketchy coverage, but otherwise I get a good connection. Hopefully the Cell C rep can help you. I even get an excellent Cell C connection at St Francis, so I'm really happy with them.

I have been experiencing exactly the same problems on a 2GB Cell C data bundle via MWEB on a Google Nexus 7.

I logged a call with MWEB technical support. The solution they suggested was to create a new (empty) access point (called "internet") and to use this one, instead of the default, which came on the SIMM, called "Cell C". This appears to have solved the problem for me, although I can't explain why.

My apn is already internet :(

I wish you guys all the best. Today my last voice number was ported to MTN from Cell C. I've had enough of this crap.

Just have one Cell C LTE 100Gb bundle left, that is lying in the cupboard for the day my ADSL isn't working.

Location: Delmas (Mpumalanga)
Time of issue: Whole Weekend of 9 - 11 Aug
Device: CellC voice/data sim in various phones
Contract Type (pre- or post-paid): both postpaid & prepaid was tested
Existing reference numbers from Helpdesk: n/a
www.speedtest.net results (if possible): n/a (could not even run a speedtest)
Any other information relevant to the problem: According to the locals, Delmas has seen much degraded CellC performance on both voice and data over the last couple of weeks/months. Phone displaying Edge 'coverage' however nothing happens when you try to access any internet services, just times out. Call quality is also very erratic, and dropped calls to/from the area are frequent.

Is anyone here receiving any feedback from Cell C, after posting the required information (location, etc.)?

Sat waiting at the barber earlier. full H+ signal but could not even facebook. Cell C, you have 21 months to fix this otherwise I am porting back to Vodacom. ( I can hear them laughing from here: We gave him 1GB of data per month but he can't use it!")

CellC aint fixing anything, anytime soon. The no internet connectivity complaints are piling up on Hellopeter everyday & Cell C can do F**kall about it.
I'll never ever recommend Cell C to anyone. They are F**kin THIEVES.

My prepaid giga 200 bundle expires in December & i'm glad i'll never be using this F**ked up Network Provider ever again.
