Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Dear Cell C, its been 5 months since I've logged Ref# 1730495.

I would like to inform you that the problem has not been solved, I test from time to time with hope that you would have fixed the problem, it is 20:19 and I can not open even google.co.za (I cant get emails WhatsApp or use any internet based apps).

I have used cell c data for about 4 years and for the most part never had problems at my current residence...

Cell C is really struggling in Harveston, Honeydew at the moment. Since yesterday evening. With both calls and data.

No data throughput even with signal. Calls can't come in either. Two different sims, three different devices.

Im having problems with cell c network in Paarl East area. Network is unuseable. I cannot even make phone calls unless it goes over to roaming. Internet also non existant. This is also starting to happen more frequently than before and Im getting fed up!! Free data on recharge expires after a few days and I cannot use it. Im not getting the advertised value for money at the moment. I already changed to 8TA for my 3G modem. I think Ill port my voice number too because the Cell c network is pathetic. I ported my wife to cell c a few weeks ago and you can imagine her displeasure with me because on Vodacom her network worked perfectly with almost no problems.

Cell C please sort out your network!!

People playing Ingress in Cape Town are having problems with Cell C network. No problems on Wifi, and people on both Cell C and Virgin (who I understand share infrastructure) are having these issues. My phone claims to be connected to HSPA / HSPA+ when the problems occur. It's not a coverage problem, we are all playing in the same locations as normal.

Issues seem to have started yesterday.

EDIT: 5 - 10 speedtests (speedtest.net app) in the exact same spots I've been playing. Only 1 success - 176ms ping (decent), 300k up (probably fine), 7k down (perhaps I should plug this dialup modem into the nearby phone booth). The other 9 said there was a network problem. Phone claims it's on HSPA+ the whole time.

EDIT: appears to be back to normal

Can connect and good signal strength, but virtually no data throughput since yesterday. Speed tests never complete.

max download speed on 5bar 3g signal = 15kBps

going to take a while to use up my 20gig cap like this.

DM what's happening with cellc's data issues, today my phones Internet connection was buggered, and over the weekend my 3G dongle was dead in the water!

Been here in Durban in north beach and this morning, the network seemed ok but the past 3 days I was getting very little throughput. It seems the network is not handling the capacity considering that the Top gear festival is over.

I am testing using a prepaid sim in my ipad and considering to port next month for the S4 deal but if this is a common problem with the network which it seems, then I'd probably just stay where I am.

So the shambolic state of Cell C's network persists. Truly mind boggling. Maybe the Cell C rep could shed some light here. WTF is going on.

Only if I can find my Identity Document, I am porting back to MTN(sad). 8 months of hell... two weeks back cellc started dropping calls and me not receiving calls , I just get an sms notifying me of a voice message. this happens with full HSPA signal. Now when at home the phone(Galaxy Notes 2) stays on 3G but not internet or able to make calls....Bad thing is I convinced a handful of people to join cellC, Now this happens.

I am getting a lot of data problems with CellC the last few weeks in Pretoria. My phone shows a 3G signal but no data is coming through or very slow. Anybody else getting the problem here?

I think its all of us. Ridiculous and unacceptable

Thank you, I somehow makes my feel a bit better to know that everybody else is also suffering - i do not know why, but it does.

Is Cell_C acknowledging the problem? What I hate is that when you call them they make you feel that you are the only one in the country with a problem and it must be your own fault.

I have given up on trying to use my monthly 1GB allowance from Cell C as part of the S4 deal.....

I now rely on a mifi with an MTN sim in and 2GB monthly allowance. I now take the mifi everywhere I go and keep it in my car if I am going to be close by, or my wife's handbag if we are in a mall or at a braai.....

When I just read that back I LOL'ed at how crazy this situation is! I have one of the best smartphones but need a second device for reliable internet connectivity and throughput.

An update from CELL_C on the high level problem raised for this would be appreciated.

I have installed a Cell C 3G data post paid contract but the connection keeps failing. Since I need an always up service this doesn't work for me.
My dongle is a ZTE MF 190, supplied by Cell C, which is connected to a Netgear N300 Modem Router.

The router is working fine in all respects but the connection drops and I have to reboot the router.

I have reported this to the Cell C support service, the acknowledgement e-mail does not give a reference, and their response times are truly unacceptable. 24 to 72 hours!!

Since I still have my DSL line available, till the end of the month, I am seriously considering witch back and cancelling the cell c contract for non performance. Trouble is the DSL service is so slow that this is not an appealing option.

How much data do you require per month?
