Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

We install with hard connected external antennas on router gateways in & around Benoni and Cell C has gone from HERO to ZERO in the past 2 weeks so we have to switch our (fortunately) all non contract customers to Telkom wireless how stupid is that Cell C? TelWorld

Location: Kenridge, Cape Town
Date & Time of Issue: 21/6/13; 14:00 onwards
Device Manufacturer & Model: ZTE MF668
Contract Type (pre- or post-paid): prepaid (R1799 promo for Giga 200)
Existing reference numbers from Helpdesk: n/a
RAT (2G/3G/HSPA+): 3G
www.speedtest.net results (if possible): n/a (haven't tested)
Any other information relevant to the problem: sluggish, disconnects

Very slow; several disconnects so far today.

It has to improve. Timeframe is anyone's guess. I am still not sorry I ported to them. Luckily, I knew what to expect so took out 2gb of MTN data pm with a free mifi device so at least if I keep that on me or in the car or in the wife's handbag I have full data connectivity. Cell C's S4 deal was the chepeast by a long shot.

The free 1GB per month that comes with my S4 Straight Up 200 I have all but written off.....

i would pay money to be in a room with the Cell C board of directors and have them read through this thread!!
- priceless

its a total Joke

It's always in the afternoons where it seems to drag along. Peak hours I suppose, but it's worse than dialup. The connection manager seems to indicate there's a strong signal, for all that's worth.

My Cell C is definitely better at night, I can watch Netflix after about 21:00 and can do iTunes downloads after midnight.

But during the day it just dies, nothing happening. Can't even run a speedtest or call up a single page.

I have to switch to Vodacom during the day.

Note : This is in Illovo, Johannesburg, and pretty sure that his is congestion related. Have good reception.

Ref# 1730495.

I would like to inform you that the problem has not been solved, I test from time to time with hope that you would have fixed the problem, it is 20:19 and I can not open even google.co.za (I cant get emails WhatsApp or use any internet based apps).

I also have urgent problems. I have even been to cell c shop and contacted the rep here. No one wants to help me, not even the fix app works for me. :(....

Since yesterday afternoon my web access is basically dead. Pages won't load, Twitter messages can't be retrieved, WhatsApp messages still seem to work but image files cannot be downloaded and my emails aren't coming through! F**k this is pathetic!

I can't carry on like this. Enough is enough. F**k you very much Cell C! Going back to Vodacom with my tail between my legs.

Good to know that I'm not the only one. The worst of it all is that I know that I'll be wasting my time trying to phone these clowns and reporting my issue because I'll just be given the run-around with some generic response.

It's consistently been one problem to another for me on Cell C and from where I stand there seems to be no end in sight. Fortunately I'm not tied in with a contract so I'll be jumping this sinking ship today.

Yeah. I'm just sad I spent R2k on a speed stick and data only to find its 98% signal strength with 0 throughput. For the love of God Cell C rep, read your private messages. Or are you ignoring my plea the same way as the tech support line and cell c shop :(

If you want look at www.Telworld.co.za we can either assist with an antenna or take the data off you for other users if all fails

Please Cell_C, just talk to us. We are suffering out here. Even if you give us the standard line that you are aware of the problem. At least it will give us some hope.

Since I bought my Giga200 last November, I've barely used 100MB because of these issues. I'm wondering how many people are out there with the same problem and if it's worthwhile starting a class action type of suit. I believe it's time to get lawyers involved.
