Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

No data connection

I have been having serious data connection trouble for the past month. Very spotty, at best, and since last week completely non-existent. I have tried everything, but I get nothing. I'm not talking about my phone showing edge or HSDPA, I mean not even showing a data connection.

This isn't a problem with my phone (tried a different SP, works brilliantly), and I have actually stood next to a tower and only got 1 bar.

I'm on prepaid, so seriously thinking about porting back to my original SP. If it wasn't for WIFI at work and home I probably would have switched already.

Please do something about this.

Area: All over Cape Town
Phone: Nexus 4

Is the problem isolated in certain areas or everywhere you go? Do you get the same results when you test the sim in another device. *DM*

So far the problem is across most of Cape Town, but I mainly move between Epping and Bellville.

I have not tried the sim in another device, will do that tonight.

Keep Getting disconnected in pe its been like this for months now, its driving me insane.

Its not only me it happens on my moms phone more frequently, where as on my device it shows it's still connected on hers the data connection completely disappears.

I'm thinking of switching networks of this can be resolved rather pay more for a reliable product

Devices with this issue so its a network issue

It took me like 5 minutes for ookla to decide what server to ping so slow my connection is. I cannot take it anymore.

I am in Cambridge, East London. Between Krohn and Elizabeth roads.
1 contract.
1 prepaid mifi/Dongle setup
1 prepaid tablet.

All 3 the same outcome...and I have 2 different dongles that I test in mifi router.

My fiance on vodacom...perfect network. I have tested her sim in my devices and they perform the same as in her device.

What is there that we can do.

Its like this 4pm to 8am when I leave for work and all weekend.

Its terrible.

Since this PM the whole local Cell C tower is dead. Only connecting cell phones through Vodacom. Cell C modem totally dead.
Location : Fouriesburg, FS.

Cellc dying a slow death...time to port when all 3 contracts expire....

And seems some reports here are ignored and otherd tended to... although the tending to it does not really resolve anything.

No passthrough on cellc in Brentwood Park Benoni for the last 3 days... Full signal

Constant disconnects on my Cell C modem. I can't stay connected for more than 3 minutes, this started sometime last week Thursday. Funny thing is, after 1am I can stay connected and for longer. I am in the Boksburg area. Anyone having similar problems? I am glad I am on a month to month contract with them.

I cannot download anything on my cell c Giga 200 sim have got 11gb left
Full 3G connection but very slow
Only can browse

What is going on?

During the day many disconnects - in the Claremont area next to Cavendish Square, Cape Town. Started about a week ago and starts about 10-11 am evey day now.

After being with Cell-C for many years without any major problem, I start to get the feeling of leaving due to bad service in our area for the past 2 years.
Nearly every day I have with no throughput, or connect but no traffic on the Data network.
As for voice, lots of dropped calls, receiving sms's 2-3 days late.

Every time I report it, few hours later it work fine, but after a few hours the same problem start again.
Had the technicians out here twice, done tests and both of them said that I am close to the edge of the signal, but that they can tweak the tower to be more reliable.
After two years of reporting, today I received sms saying that they can't fix it and I have to look at getting a pointing antenna.
What a lot of B******T, It was fine before they upgrade the tower and added another tower, but now with all this we have nearly no connection. Since when does the people have to move closer to towers? Aren't they suppose to bring their service to the client?

For those who do think about moving to Cell-C, do you homework before to take the step because Cell-C does not deliver anymore.

I coming to think that Cell C is crappy across most parts of East London....I just get really bad speeds, like way under 1Mbps...as for mobile data, I just use the Wi-Fi at home....my battery lasts a lot longer using Wi-Fi rather than Cell C's network because its too crappy. I'm in Vincent, East London.

In PE, Cell C rocks! expect anything between 3 - 10Mbps :)

Hi , I have a Huge Complaint about Nework issues.

I just got to the Northern Cape, lil town called Hotazel near Kuruman. I have been having a horrid time with both my Contract and Prepaid lines. Most times its either no signal or gsm :erm: .. going to be here for a while and this just sucks, other networks seem to be fine, esp on the Data front with constant 3g speeds. Any way to help or am i just in the bush here?

regards

I believe Cell C still roams Vodacom in NC I have confirmation of this from family in Prieska. Did you force your network to CellC or is roaming enabled?

i didint do anything actually.. i just got here last week. put my phone on after the flight and it started picking up a signal. i dont think its roaming either..
