Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

I have been having serious data throughput issues since Monday. The signal strength have not changed since last week, but there is almost no data throughput, my ping is high and the connection is extremely slow. This is in the Mondeor Johannebsurg.

Hi Japster. Is it only in Mondeor? Please PM me your number and your exact coordinates. I'll get a technician to investigate. *DM*

Hi there,

Is there some issue with Cell C's data/network coverage perhaps, myself and my wife are having major network issues on cell c, i have a Samsung S5, and my wife has a Samsung S3, and somehow almost 50% of the day my Data just disables, even thought the Mobile data option is highlighted on my phone. The same thing happens on my wife's phone?

Which area are you in 69Joka69? *DM*

@Cell_C DM is there any plan of action for East London/Cambridge (Krohn street) for infrastructure upgrade?

I seriously cannot take it anymore. Until midnight I can hardly browse tapatalk...cannot even get a simple app to function. Facebook is too network heavy for your network here.

I have good signal but also no throughput.

Hi boxerulez. Please PM me your exact street address and contact details. I will verify if there are any planned optimizations in the area. *DM*

Having massive problems with Cell-C lately (multiple Giga 100 packages) can someone from Cell-C kindly send me a private message to have this resolved as last time. Thank you

The Cell C network has gone down the tubes again!
This happens every few months where the network becomes so slow.

Terrible network congestion!

Seriously, every few months this happens! WHY??

Hello

I have been travelling. With Vodacom SIM card no problem. With Cell C full signal strength or at least 4/5 bars all showing HSPA+ I can barely load Speedtest. Sorry I could not post results because it is too slow:

Last week
Cape Town - no problems

Yesterday
- Irene/R21 3pm
- Centurion John Vorster Drive 11pm
Today
- Centurion Clubview 8pm
- Midrand New Road Piazza 1pm
- Pretoria East CSIR 9am

You seem to have a general problem with bandwidth in Gauteng. If it is my computer why does the Vodacom SIM card work perfectly. I also tried MTN with no problem. If it is the location why do I have the problem all over in Gauteng.

I have now moved over to MTN on my Notebook, because this is just too frustrating.

I am a client of Cell-C for a very long time, but for the last 3-4 years, Cell-C is busy going from good to bad to worse to dead duck.

Report faulty network, the network work for 1 day afterwards and then back to square one.

i have now logged a complain with ICASA about this problem, because Cell-C network department come up with all kind of excuses and fixes but nothing is working.

For the past 5 days I have no Voice or data network at my property.
It is no use to contact the customer care centre because you can just report the fault over again and if you ask them to speak to the supervisor you get told that they can't because they will lose your jobs. You can't even get to the manager of the network department.

According to ICASA, when you report to the customer care centre and you are not happy with their service you must ask to speak to the supervisor on duty and if he can't help, you ask to speak to the manager of the department.

I could not get to any of them because the customer care staff does not want to put me through.

Cell C in Sandton is absolutely useless. When people call it goes straight to voice mail. If they actually get through then either I can't hear anything or they can't hear anything. IF on the off chance they get through (or I get through) then the call will drop within the first minute. Data is also useless, even with full signal and 3G or H+ pages wont load, whatsapp messages won't send or receive, then maybe every 15 minutes or half hour I will get a flood of messages, emails, notifications, etc (many of them sms or email to notify me that I have a thousand missed calls and voice messages). I demand the problem be fixed in the next 4 weeks or cancel my contract without penalty. Absolutely unacceptable. And this all just 1 block from the old Cell C building in the Sandton CBD! Everywhere I go its bad, but not quite as bad as Sandton.

This is what I think causes all the network problems:

Superscharge
Megabonus
New Daily bundles

And from 19th October it will even get worse with Cell C's free WhatsApp

I agree with you 100% on everything you mentioned here as I experience these exact issues in Sandton and at home in Randburg. I cannot wait for my contract to expire so I can move off CellC.

I am living in a small town not far from the Cell C tower, but over the last few weeks the data connection has been very poor intermittently. So I put in a complaint as a PM with Cell C rep, and reported to their call centre.
They sent me a report form/questionnaire by email some days ago, just when the connection was not too bad. They even called me yesterday, and I explained the issue, and told them that at least for the moment it's better.
This AM back to *****, webpages hardly load. But Cell C http://41.157.65.50/ Last Result:
Download Speed: 5521 kbps (690.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1697 kbps (212.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 71 ms
10/2/2014 9:15:23 AM
and MyBB speedtest http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/2720004444.png almost as good.

Do they prioritise these speed tests, and leave the rest of the network to be rubbish ??

Can't update ANY apps on my iPhone 5 and takes 30min just to send a 23k email attachment. I lost hope in this network and my main number is now on MTN PAYG but still have my Cellc contract that is costing me a fair amount of money but having to toggel the airplane mode whole day because of this is just sad.....

I did the same. My primary number on MTN PAYG and a new number on my CellC contract. Now the CellC network team got back to me and said that there is bad reception in a concrete building where I work and I need to swop to 2g for reception. They also have no plan to improve the signal in this area.
My CellC phone has bad reception outside the concrete building, at my house, on the roads, etc. so not only the concrete building. They have no answer to that and ignore the fact that I told them that initially.

My MTN sim has coverage everywhere I go.
So I also have a useless CellC contract that I try to use when I can for outgoing calls(without too much luck) just so I get some value out of the contract.

Twice I have asked the networks team to send a cancelation request to the cancellations team. I have not heard anything back yet.
Perhaps if I stop my debit order...

I'm in Parow Valley, no network coverage on my Samsung S3, never had issues in this area before. The same with my dad's older nokia, although it looks like he has coverage, but unable to receive calls.

I kept my old vodacom number as it was still on contract when I got the S3, and went with a CellC microsim for the value. But the value is absolutely useless when I receive no coverage in my home and work areas...

Cellc is a joke. No LTE and they are the only network in SA that doesn't have it.. they have the 42mbs HSPA network in PE which is slower then their EDGE. I literally stand next to the cellc radio mask with a -49 dBm on HSPA and I get a UL of 1.3mb nd a DL of 3.8mb and a ping of 149ms. Please can one of the cellc technicians explain to me why PE has this pathetic network services???????? Please no "try clean your browser history" answers... please cellc staff....
