Full description of the problem with as much detail and history as possible:
Some questions to consider:
Data Problem (GPRS/EDGE/3G)? Stuck on Edge and unable to connect over 3G. I have a 8ta card as well and that connects 3g without a problem so It is a cell C network issue. Pages do not load fully. Connection is Extremely slow. The problem occurs in this area when it is raining or misty weather, but the connection has been stable for about 3 or 4 months now. I have not reported the problem with cell C before. I tried moving the modem into different positions without resolve.

I finally had my internet fixed after 7 months of hassle. I am now getting speeds of between 4-5mb/s, and I can use the internet in the evenings with no disconnects at all. Northgate/Northriding area, Johannesburg North. So, to whover finally got somebody to fix it, thank you.

I take it back. For 5 days my internet worked flawlessly. Like it's never worked before. Now, back to normal. Slow, and unusable at night. Why the hell does it work perfectly and then it's useless again?

:erm:

Mine is coming to a end now in December. Dont think I will be taking another Cell C data deal. Maybe I will give 8ta a try this time. Not sure about the 2 year contract though. Have till December to decide I guess.

I am with you ocleroux

I am having the same problems again as of 14h20 today (see my previous posts in this thread). When I got the "speed" stick, it really was "woooosh", but although nothing changed on my side (modem, hardware, physical location, etc.), the "service" from Cell C keeps on degrading. Complaining does not help, and it is becoming clear that Cell C is having capacity/bandwidth problems, which they seem to be unable to fix/resolve. I am currently advising everyone to steer clear of Cell C data.

I have personally tested the Cell C connection in various parts here in Bloem, with the same problems. I also have 6 other friends/family members/work colleagues with the same problems. This tells me that it is not my hardware/software setup, or my physical location causing the problems.

I think Cell C, like so many other South African companies, will simply take our money, and not try to fix what is wrong. It seems even with the CPA, there is nothing we can do. They keep on taking (stealing?) our money, and not delivering.

So, although it will not help, and clearly does not matter to Cell C, here are the details:

This is an extreme example. Most tests have been between 1 mb and 1.5 mb for download and similar for upload. (For example: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1411019009.png)

Cell ID (if possible): Sorry, don’t know.

OS: Windows 7

RSSI: -75 dBm to -80 dBm

Any other information relevant to the problem: Speed is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes gets to 3mb but more often will be very low and below 1mb. Have tried to download large locally hosted files, which have only been downloaded at 900 kb/s.

Thanks!

No signal. LAC, RNC ID and Cell ID in MDMA software are all blank and the modem's light is blinking blue every 3 seconds. The Cell C Dashboard software shows "Ready to connect - 3G - Cell C" but any connection attempts timeout after a while with "The connection attempt failed".
