Contract: 5GB prepaid
RSSI: <=-51dB

Not sure the tower details, but it seems a common problem whether I'm at home, work, JHB, Pretoria.

Getting 0 data throughput problems where data down just drops to 0. I have had this issue from day 1 and complained numerous times and eventually just gave up and accepted the crap service from cell c. But now I'm sitting with >=-51dB signal and still getting the same problem? You can no longer blame this on poor reception it is definately something cell c is doing wrong somewhere. I can't even load speedtest without 10 refreshes. Bleh

Luckily my prepaid expires soon and I can move over to another provider.

You and I have the same problem. CellC black speedstick never seem to work anywhere - not Sandton, Hatfield or Pretoria East.

Any other information relevant to the problem: the service was slow but acceptable up to 3 weeks ago. Now only 10% of the time i can connect to the network and it will work for 5 min and then there is no throughput. disconnect and after 30 to 50 min it will reconnect again and work for 5 min.
roaming on the voda network connects but no throughput at all!
the issue is worse with the 1820 over the zte 688 with both the pre and post paid sim cards.

basically No service for 3 weeks PLEASE HELP!

No data connection available. It came up for around 10 minutes (I think) and its now down again.

where abouts in glenwood are you? Just give a street no numbers or anything not planning on stalking you. Will identify the possible sites u would be getting signal from and narrow it down for cell c. Could be a MW link that's gone wonky causing the transmission to drop.

Hi - sorry I took so long to come back but I had given up looking for responses to my blog. Situation is still the same. My street is Woodburn Place, parallel to Moore road and off Bulwer road

Thanks for your response

The stick appears to have full signal, but all pages time out, emails wont load, nothing. Reconnect a few times and it works for a few minutes then stops again.
Are the cell C towers over loaded? This seems to happen more at certain times, one of the worst is around 6:30 pm
The service started of very well, but over the last month things have gone very poor.

I end up using my vodacom dongle. If this wasnt pre paid I would have cancelled my contract by now.

Cell signal is very unstable. Moves from -90dBm to -75dBm on MDMA. Keeps on moving between 3g and edge all the time with constant disconnects.
So unstable I can not get 2 speed tests off without showing a major fluctuation.

Any other information relevant to the problem:
We've had this thing for a couple of months now (since Feb about), it's ridiculously unstable but it used to be pretty usable. In the last couple of months it's started swinging from relatively decent to speeds that'd make a dial-up connection cringe. It sometimes literally can't even load Google. The dashboard claims you're on HSPA+ with four bars strength but there's not even a smidgeon of data coming through.

The biggest problem I'm having now (that started on Friday) is that it'll now only stay connected for an hour or two and then spontaneously disconnect. Even when the connection is decent and I'm getting decent speeds, it'll just disconnect. Upon trying to reconnect I'll often get "connection was terminated from a remote server" or whatnot for my first few tries.

It's ridiculously annoying.
