ok long story short,I bought a cellc prepaid sim to test the network out, 3g signal is very poor or non existent in my area, I live about 500m from a vodacom 3g tower but i can seem to connect on it. Any advise on this would be highly appreciated.

Topped up with data this morning, but cannot establish a connection at all. APN setting is correct & data is enabled. Please help :(

In Vereeniging and Sasolburg, the signal is very unstable. Random disconnects and complete loss of signal, even when switching between gsm and hsdpa. The result remains the same - crap!

Got to add that Mtn is just as crap if not worse

Ok, now it seems to be working again. Still not sure what caused it.

My signal is non-existent at my place. When I tested it with a prepaid sim, it was ok. Not brilliant, but I could make calls from pretty much anywhere in my house. Now, I have to walk around like an idiot to get a signal. WTF???

Vodacom was absolute crap, hence I left. MTN was also non-existent.

Just got off the phone with CellC, had working internet for a whole day after a week with nothing. Originally water had leaked in somewhere.. Now apparently now there's some problem with towers in Durban and the Western Cape.. *happy dance*

There is definitely a Cell C base down in Randburg at the moment. If you're near Multichoice, that's the reason (base at Randburg Methodist Church been down for over 24 hours!)
Other bases are probably overloaded because of this.

For reporting New Problems in this thread (all the information is required)
Location: Ferndale Ridge, Randburg
Date & Time of Issue: since 22 November 2012 around 9pm, still ongoing now.
Device Manufacturer & Model: Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro and Nokia C5-00
Contract Type (pre- or post-paid): both
Existing reference numbers from Helpdesk: none
RAT (2G/3G/HSPA+): all
www.speedtest.net results (if possible): not applicable
Cell ID (if possible): 51309 on 2G and 13092 on 3 G but all sectors are off (base station is located at Randburg Methodist Church opposite Multichoice in Randburg)
RSSI: NO SIGNAL AT ALL
Any other information relevant to the problem:

This base station is completely down, not showing any signal at all. have tweeted @cellc_support and @cellc but no replies yet.

UPDATE: I have logged this with Cell C now (ref 1705013), but the lady on the other side says they're not experiencing any problems in Randburg, and it will take up to 7 days to investigate (when an entire base station is down?) :wtf:
No reply to Twitter messages, this post or Private Message to Cell_ C here.
This sort of service for a R2000/month client?

FURTHER UPDATE: I think there's a major network failure n Cell C (that they don't seem to now about for some reason). Robindale base station is also not showing up either.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Yup, definitely something bigger going on. The base station at Delta Park school also wasn't showing up this afternoon.

@Cell_C what's going on, we're coming up for 3 days now...

No ways can I renew my Cell C Data !

Hi there everyone...anyone have any idea how to register your sim on cell c website?? I've been battling for days now and the "captcha code" keeps on throwing me out and then it says that "This account does not currently exist"

Well I know that my account does not exist but that would be the whole point of me trying to register.

Any ideas anyone??

I had a similar problem where it wouldn't accept any of the passwords I received by sms.
Log it with them as a problem, then they should be able to fix it for you.
