Cellc LTE-A on S8

So is there anything I need to do?

I'm not picking ip lte advanced with cellc even if I'm in coverage.

Vodacom I pick up 4G+ immediately but nothing with Cellc?
 
Do it pickup LTE?
Check SIM LTE provisioning with Cell C.
 
Picking up normal LTE. 4G icon displays but no 4G+
 
Customer care just keeps on telling me no I don't qualify for airtime advance..... :wtf:

Have been on the Cell C Network for a minimum period of 2 months prior to the date of request for Emergency Airtime.
Have recharged with R20 per month on average for last 2 months.

mmm, he is asking about LTE-Advanced coverage, not airtime advanced. The call centre keeps telling him he does not qualify for airtime advance, which has got nothing to do with his query regarding LTE-Advanced coverage or provisioning on his sim card.

It's a Joke. This whole network is a joke. I've been told,

I don't have line of sight
My device is not fully updated
My simcard is broken
My internet setting is wrong
I don't qualify for airtime advance
I'm in coverage but the tower is down
I need a normal sized simcard instead of a nano
I'm on the wrong price plan
My data bundle does not work on LTE advanced
LTE and LTE advanced is the same thing


Yeah I had enough of this stupid network. Just thought I might want to use them since I have a 100GB data bundle loaded on one of my main numbers that I use and with LTE-A on the S8 it would be decent to use it.

BTW Cellc's LTE is like MTN and Vodacoms 3G speed wise so and when you see H on Cellc it's like GPRS on MTN and Vodacom.

I provided screenshots of my homescreen where it just sows 4G and not 4G+ for LTE Advanced and a screenshot of the coverage map where I am at that time and they are still clueless what I'm saying.

Looks like I need to just stick with my Vodacom simcard for now. Only get 500mb of data a month and LTE Advanced on Vodacom is over 100Mbps

So I tried everything and now moving on to submitting a complaint to the ASA for false advertising from Cellc because LTE-A does not work on the Cellc network on the S8.

I got mybroadband involved and that did not help at all in fact that only gotten me a call from Cellc to say they will build more towers. Not sure why they are saying dumb things like that since I was not complaining about lack of coverage. Seems Cellc employees are not trained in LTE-A as the 5 people I spoke to in coverage and Technical data support had no idea what I was talking about spewing only rubbish over the phone like I need to have clear LOS for LTE-A to work.

I got my S8 from Vodacom and flashed an unbranded firmware with Odin and there is still no 4G+ even though I must have passed like 20 according to the coverage map.

Next challenge is getting Cellc to remove all that LTE Advanced advertising next to the S8.

I must say that Cellc has been the worst network when it came to support. Having people try to assist you that have zero knowledge of the technology on offer is not only frustrating but a disgrace especially if they spew this rubbish.

I did so many time already. I have 4 coverage refrences but nothing gets done. The people that phone does not even know what lte advanced is how can they assist me?

If you want me to embarrass you on this forum I can by recording the call.

Cellc LTE-A on S8+

Is this supposed to be available on a FNB Connect SIM as well?
 
Moses contacted me and after a heated debate where they saying there is poor coverage at the clients location which AGAIN was not my query. When I explained that from my location right through Centurion where the most coverage is and traveling along the N1 South to the M1 and to gold reef city which is very well covered he just changed and said I need to take my device to a Cellc store.

I know it's not the device that is faulty because Vodacom 4G+ works.....

Eish. Maybe just accept that Cell C is advertising something which they dont have? Strange because Vodacom is the opposite. We dont punt LTE-A or even have it on our coverage maps but you have access to it. hehehe.

I have LTE-A. Most certainly around CPT, JHB and PTA.
 
So this is where I stand. On facebook someone posted a speedtest result of 4G+ who stays close to me but he is using a Mate 9. I have yet to locate anyone with an S8 on Cellc that has 4G+

I'm thinking that for some reason the S8 does not support 4G+ on the band that Cellc has it on. That is the only thing that can explain this.

Firmware flashed to stock unbranded did not make any difference.
