Northcliff residents are going to war over the towers littering their view and – they say – their bodies. Is the radiation strong enough to hurt them?

I'd decided to give this story the benefit of doubt. Untill they got to the bit with the R350 000 steel coated walls...

Only if you the type who would feel intimidated by the size of the mast outside vs the mast inside. Luckily I don't have that problem.

I will never believe what industry says about these things as well as anything coming out of cellphone funded "medical" reports.
I believe that these things are dangerous. Do I have proof? Of course not.
Do I stop using a cellphone? Of course not.
But I still believe that living next to a tower transmitting these signals cannot be harmless.

Sure, but I'd like to think that our scientists and global health organisations learnt a thing or two from the smoking stuff-up. If anything we'd be more careful, especially with things like radiation which we already know can be detrimental at high enough power.

(By "detrimental" I don't mean cancer. From what I've read there's still nothing to suggest that non-ionising radiation can directly cause cancer.)

The other day I tested a 38 giga hertz radio. As soon as it switch on next to me, I felt a bit hotter, knowing that the full blast is going thru me.

After a while , while programing it, I realize the transmitter it not switch on yet, but I felt the radiation.

I switch it on and relax.

Its all in the mind.

This boils down to physics, and the laws of physics are pretty clear: you are exposed to more radiation from your cellphone than you are from a cellphone tower.

Probably true if the signal is weak and the phone increases output. But what if you are near the tower?
