+1. Who cares about small bundles or OOB. I am battling with 2GB at the moment. I need 10GB per month.

Exactly...R 385.00 for 2Gb is a bit much, and when I get that warning sms that im low, I disconnect anyways. BOO to only lowering OOB.
People from Hong Kong can finish 2GB in less than a minute, scaaaary.

This is certainly true in the case of Broadband Advanced where the privilege of OOB=IB can cost you twice the price of a standard bundle, but consider this scenario:
On the first of the month you buy a 2GB bundle hoping to stretch it to last for 60 days.
After 7 weeks your bundle is depleted.
On Vodacom you are screwed, if you buy a bundle now it will only last you 5 weeks instead of 8, so your choices are pay R2 per MB or buy a smaller bundle (at a higher rate) to last you a week.
On MTN you can just buy another 2GB bundle which will last you another 60 days, or you continue to use your airtime at R0.19 per MB until the 1st when you buy another 2GB bundle.

In that scenario the combination of better OOB rates and more logical implementation of roll-over work well together.
I just don't think we should be singing praises to either Vodacom or MTN. Given what the ADSL market is doing neither of them have answered with anything nearly as significant.
Personally I am tired of the gimmicks both networks have been churning out:
1) Spin to Win
2) Extra weekend on network call minutes
3) R50 uncapped rate limited at 128k for 24hrs.
4) Pitiful roll-over windows for paid for data (I paid for it why should it expire?)
5) Futile speed arms race: launching 7.2, no wait 14.4, no wait 21.
The list goes on...
Customers want more bang for buck which means bigger cap for same or less money. Simple. You don't even have to spend millions in advertising to sell it to us, just do it already.

if my calculations are correct you can download 1.45GB with a 128kb/s connection
128kb / 8 bits = 16KB/s
16KB x 60 seconds = 960KB a minute
960KB x 60 minutes = 57MB an hour
57MB x 24 hours = 1.3GB
1.3GB + 150mb = 1.45GB
1.45GB for 50 bucks seems ok to me?

It's ok, but you have to use it in 24hrs. If it was 1.45GB valid for 60 days it would be way better. Say you wanted to download 5GB's of data, you now have to wait for the cut off and then phone again to get it activated. Schlep.
I think I am going to give this a try
from 1.8 without hsupa, to 14.4 with hsupa, yet still the exact same prices as 3 years ago, on the other hand, 1 GB unshapped ADSL which may have costed R120 back then, today costs R19 and eight times faster. i don't use wireless, but i would swop it anyday if something competitive was made available. we here need atleast a 90%-95% decrease in prices,. Yes it is true that many SA doesn't use the higher gig packages, but many also do, and it would be a huge attraction had it been made competitive to ADSL, and for the poorer market too, an offpeak-only and peak only, even it it's only 3.2mbps products would also win hearts. this is what i feel is best for us both.

6) Ridiculous rate increases for on-net after hours calls.
7) Launching a new website with less functionality than the sites it replace.

I am really screwed and stuck with expensive 3G/HSPA in my area. I have applied for an ADSL line in my area and I was really looking forward to uncapped and affordable Internet. Yesterday I phoned Telkom about the progress of my order and what do I have to find out: "Sorry, but we cannot install a line for you due to cable theft problems in your area!".
Talk about freedom:
- No Neotel coverage in my area.
- No iBurst coverage in my area.
- No ADSL coverage in my area due to cable theft.
- Poor 3G/HSPA coverage in my area.
Therefore I am stuck with the best of the worst which is the super expensive,unreliable and capped 3G/HSPA service that Vodacom and MTN offers and that is in a normal, not even remote, suburb in Krugersdorp in the West-Rand.
No wonder people are emigrating from SA.

With ADSL "going unlimited" - I think its about time 3G follows suit.

What bugs me most is the fact that Seacom & SAT3 bandwidth are now much less expensive than a year or two ago, yet we still pay the same for 3G.
Come on VC we know your operating costs have declined and all you're doing is raking in the difference. That's not fair & a sure sign of greed.
Actually I'm just venting I'm not with VC any longer, got fed up with 'nothing in the pipeline' so they'll be getting nothing, nada, zero, zilch from my pipeline.
3G used to be a convenient option 'cos you already have the cellno & getting a telkom line's a shlepp, but seriously.
Get off your arses and vote with your wallets, that's the only language overfed companies like VC understands.
