Cheaper 3G Prices - Rep?

Can't get. Telkom won't install due to copper theft. Or Telkom won't install in new complexes. Or Telkom is not investing in infrastructure in the current financial year. Goes on and on Mr Roadkill. I would give anything to get ADSL with these new prices.

You win, but do your mates not have what you need?

PS: It's with a 2

This post has been going on since [19-08-2009 03:09 PM] Same old tune:rolleyes:. The only way they will tighten their belts, is if you stop feeding the pig. Then they will stop getting fat, and will have to tighten their belts to keep their pants up.

P0is3nIvy: BS, utter and complete BS.

And yet again, I push on for the implementation of pricing in the ranges of R50-R100 per gig.

Either that or I am making other plans as soon as possible, even if it means taking extreme steps.

Iburst has a unmetered-after-midnight trial. Maybe Vodacom can at least trial this too? My cousin has a 3G connection and he cannot afford to have any automatic updates turned on for fear of going over his cap. At least with unmetered-after-midnight users like him would be able to get the latest updates and protect their computers from malware, spam, etc.

Yep, I also agree - to give unlimited bandwidth on a 3G network will be asking for trouble. Our networks will come to a screeching halt - they will not cope with the P2P guys that will abuse the system. However, now that ADSL prices have come down so drastically, and there is unlimited ADSL available, the Networks could safely bring the price down to around R 100.00 /GB, without fear of the networks being overly abused. The abusers will remain on ADSL where they can download to their heart's content. I can see the Networks dropping their pricing to this level....it's just the frustration of having to wait so long - most people don't have the patience and are moving over to ADSL

I've realised i'm funding Vodacom to milk me even faster

It seems Vodacom is keeping our 3G Prices Extremely high so we can fund their next Gen 14Mbps Network....

But we don't all want or even need 14Mbps - we Want and Need more reasonably priced Data!

I wanted to post an idea that they should work on splitting the Connection Fee & Data Fee up seperately - a new service or something where you could pay R100 to connect for a month and then more reasonable prices

but whaaaa - who am I kidding? it doesn't matter how many ideas we feed through our Massive MyBB Forum system, Vodacom don't care for us, just like Sentec or iBurst.

So yeah, i'm giving up on this overpriced crappy 3G Service and moving on

I'm not going to stay any longer to Pay for their 14Mbps Towers and Network so they can keep milking us even faster

Time for me to give Mweb a call - I don't need 2GB running out at a speed of 14Mbps, I'm OK with normal speeds as long as I can at least "use" the internet :p :) ;)

So what do you need more - speed or Cap?

please stop merging my threads, this topic has nothing to do with Cheaper 3G Prices but more about High Speed VS More Data

This is my last month with VC. :D My speeds are good, but what's the point if I use up R 385 in less than a day? I would take a slower speed with much more data at lower rates any day.

Which comes down to the same thing.... Otherwise there is always the 14.4 thread.

I could always quote:

And

So yeah, i'm giving up on this overpriced crappy 3G Service and moving on

But you know those have nothing to do with the cost of the service ;)

Your last chance Vodacom

Goodie!

I received confirmation this morning that NeoTel are finalizing their network in Nelspruit. Services will go live in June or July.

So then, Vodacom...
You have 30-60 days before I leave you for good.
30-60 days to achieve the following 3 points.

1: Proper coverage and signal (in Nelspruit).
2: Pricing of around R50-R100 per gig (bigger bundles closing in on that R50 mark).
3: Cooperation with the banks so that the R500 per month maximum airtime recharge from internet banking can be finally fixed. (Banks blame Voda and Voda blame banks, sort your shi## out!).

I should also point out that I will be making it a personal interest of mine to convert any and all clients in my database off of your networks at the time NeoTel goes live here.

I hope for your part that you do the right thing, or you can expect a massive exodus of high-usage users away from your overpriced, underperforming, gimmick-driven drivel of a network.

Bye Bye Vodacom!! HELLO MTN

So after 2 years of incredibly high prices, speeds of nothing over 1.5mbps, support that at the best of times were miserable, it is time to leave for a lesser evil.
So, I would like to thank Vodacom for a lot of frustration, quite a few headaches, and possibly reducing my lifespan:D it is time to say

GOOD BYE and thanks for.....................

Overinflated prices and not listening to their customers

The Telkom just contacted me to advise that my adsl line is active!!!!
To Vodacom:
I was a 3-5GB user of yours for the past year and a half, now due to your pathetic excuse for price reductions. I am no longer.

Maybe it is time to wake up and smell the roses....... we have an alternative to you, so keep us your customer happy or we simply leave

yeah I didn't want to move to telkom yet as I'm going to move later this year - then I thought "Hey but who cares if I need to install twice, I spend that much on Vodacom in 2 weeks alone!"

Still don't know which Uncapped is best though, thinking MWeb since they are cheap and stable, and others are downloading like 100GB per month on their R350 special :erm:

I would look at the Mweb option first. I'm going to change to them. :) I'm planning a move sometime this year as well, but my R 500 to R 1 000 odd per month can go to someone who actually drops their prices.

You are right, the promise of 14Mbps will never filter down fully.. They are just using that as bait to fund the upgrade of their own network/capacity. (for normal calls and their own systems etc.) The end user will most likely get a crumb of the pie.

Vodacom answer me this.

Wholesale Bandwidth now costs R8.00 per Gig. (link)
We get 4 Megabytes for R8.00

I don't understand where the R280,00 extra per Gig comes in you are charging at the moment.

surely the Towers you put up are being used for Cellular communication for the most part?

And the statement "It's wireless and portable" is not an excuse.

People buy data at R2/mb therefore anyone who can will continue to sell it at that price... The R280 is what they call "profit".
