I just called vodacom data for a problem im having with my new phone, and I asked the dude if vodacom is going to give us a data price cut and he said " I can not tell you much but there will soon be massive competion in the data prices very soon and the new 4g network upgrade is almost complete"

So now its just a matter of time if it is true.

Still the hype about speed... Doesn't anybody read the polls? MOST people want cheaper bandwidth...

Didn't Vodacom and MTN report Cell C to the ASA for false advertising because 4G isn't a standard yet?

Ya thats what I thought, but maybe I did not here him right or he said LTE or he made a stuffup and ment to say 3g

But I do know of a fact that vodacom has been testing 4g

So lets hope the dude did not talk ***

You can't test something that doesn't exist.

"International technology research firm Gartner said that LTE will become the de facto 4 G standard for cellular networks globally , with some exceptions that will use other technologies such as WiMax."

I have a feeling that this thread is going to die soon because no one will care any more when Cell C has fully launched.

I don't think so cos fully launched means rural ereas included. So it can still take 2 - 3 years for CellC i guess.

Also long as the big cities and smaller towns get done it should have a significant impact on customer movement from one network to another. In pure rural areas people are unlikely to even have pcs.

We do have a CellC tower in town, so maybe within the next year we can make use of the CellC cheaper broadband.

I am sure 90% of Vodacom Data's business is in Jhb, Dbn, Cpt and Pta anyway.

Bye Bye Vodacom, Hello Cell-C

Who else is moving over?

My company have decided to move over to Cell-C next month.
+/- 5 000 Cell Phone contracts and +/- 4 500 5Gig Data bundles.

Any people here on Cell-C Data? Can you give info please?

Let the games begin; I am moving over my data lines when they launch in Joburg.

Wouldn't touch a phone contract with CellC unless they're the only operator left - had too many bad experiences.
My company is SMALL - but we bought 5 CellC 5Gb "contracts" and so far things look very positive. It should be enough, because not one of us ever exceeded the 2x2Gb (later 2.3Gb) PPDBs previously bought from Vodacom. Only started on the 1st of October when it went live here in Slaapstad - but so far no complaints whatsoever.

He, he, he, Cell C is becoming the MWEB of wireless...:D

I've got R3000 in my pocket to give to Cell C.

JHB and PTA are going to be a huge success for Cell C.

Reminds me of the TOP TV launch, they even ran out of stock that weekend.
