choosing not to vote

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion. Typical South African you are, when the going gets tough you have to resort to veiled insults, don't you.
I have about as much right to post on this forum as do you, so suck it up! I am abiding by the forum rules :)

You just gave me a veiled insult - not too bright are we?

There is something wrong with coming into a South African forum and insulting South Africa. It may not be against the forum rules, but it doesn't make you any less of an ass.

LeetStone, I said in the rigging thread that I believe undoubtedly that they would rig it if one of two things happened:

-if they narrowly missed the majority percentage (not going to happen I know, but hypothetically speaking)
-if they narrowly missed the 2/3rds majority precentage.

The thing is, what would you like us to do? Nothing? Go hide under a rock?

Apparently we should all move to the second largest state in the USA.

The IEC has been very good and open with us in the past. I doubt rigging, at least en masse, will occur. But since this is a paper based ballot there is the distinct possibility of ballot stuffing, but this will be very isolated and possibly ineffective.

Yet another anti-American. How FAIL.

At least in the US, I don't have to put up with South Africans constantly trying to go one better than the next person, or bragging worse than any American I've ever met, or South Africans and their unique way of running an internet forum. Or, last but not least, South Africans who are so "full" of themselves.

Actually I'm quite pro-USA, but you're beginning to change my mind. I was referring to the 2000 election irregularities in Jebb Bush's Florida, and all of a sudden I'm anti-American. Ah, but apparently its only an issue when African countries do it, right?

Denial is only a feeling, and a government that has been labeled as secretive, you do the math.

Yea, look I'd like to believe that but what with all that's been going on lately I would not put a thing past these guys. How they would do it, I don't know but I sure as hell don't trust 'em. I do think that openly rigging it is beyond question in light of the whole Zim mess being fresh in the world's eyes but behind-the-scenes tampering seems to be the ANC's trademark.

LeetStone, on negative pessimism: I'll give you examples from people I know here and it really irks me. "Ah, **** it. One vote isn't going to count. We're screwed either way"

Careless irresponsibility: "Nah, **** that. I'm playing golf that day anyway. It's a public holiday."

And yes, if you choose this path then don't complain about how shyte things are. Simple as that.

The only one who is not too bright is you. And as you started this, I'll be finishing it.

"I know you are, but what am I?" - is that honestly the best you have? lol

So now go and cry crocodile tears about a veiled insult. It remains that you started with me today, no-one else on this forum got all hot and bothered like you did. Some don't agree with me but thats okay, you, seem to have some sorta grudge here, FFS I don't even know you man.

You need to get over yourself man...

Ah, so you admit to being insulting? Pot... kettle... black.

Now go back to your little backward red neck town, and leave us to solve our problems since you have no intention of helping; we are proud of our country and have no intention of leaving. This is our home and we're happy to be here.

If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

You are very anti-South Africa, please explain what your grudge with this country is?

Time will tell, but I think because of Zim we're extremely vigilant in this country and will undoubtedly challenge ans suspicious activity. We know what can happen and, as such, will (hopefully) make sure it cannot happen here.

LeetStone does not have South Africa citizenship, so he is just here stirring up some s**t. Yet, he still complains... a lot.

Why not? Even if I don't vote, I WILL complain, not that it will help whether I voted or not.

Because your vote will make far more difference than your complaints. One is preventative, the other merely reactive. Allowing something to happen and then complain about it is as logical slamming your head against a wall. And yes, you would have allowed this situation to occur by not voting.

lol, okay fair enough. It's not like you'd be interrogated to find out if your qualms are warranted or not but honestly, besides forming a militia and going on a rampage, what better way is there to make yourself heard than to vote? :)

Why, are you going to lie in late that day and vreet a sloot of twee of wat? :D :p

I completely disagree. Assuming that I don't have the right to complain if I don't vote is absurd. Like I've said before, I pay a hell of a lot of tax, and I expect good governance from whoever is in charge. Thus I will complain even if I haven't voted.

Paying tax is a good point but would you rather have your beer served cold at the bar or would you rather the skelms stole it and pinted it all out the back door?

Edit: Bit of a bleh illustration but I'm sure you get my drift.

Yeah but you missed my point. You don't have to convince me to go and vote. :) I was arguing about people saying you have no right to complain if you don't vote, which is utter crap. ;)

Ultimately you'll merely be complaining about a situation you created. You'll be complaining to yourself, and you'll deserve your own harsh criticism. This is, ultimately, a government of your own creation and essentially you allowed them to be there.

You will be paying tax regardless of who is in charge, you do realise that? So that point is rendered null and void. However, who spends the tax money you pay and how you benefit from it are entirely in your hands. However, you would be choosing not to vote and therefore giving your hard earned money to a government who is going to screw you over.

You would have brought it upon yourself, had you not voted.

(Trying to make this as hypothetical as possible - sorry if any direct references are used)

For now it is, because I know what you are tryin to do, you are trying to bait me into a flame war, to get me banned for breaking the forum rules. It ain't gonna work so give it up already.

Just... /facepalm.

Those are one of my arguments too.

I get told I complain a lot. I am not complaining in the least. Why would I complain, for what reason. Some people don't know the difference between debate, and complaint.

SA govt is gonna screw you over regardless of whether you vote, or not.

You seem to think SA government = ANC. There in lies your fault, until you understand the difference you'll be a sad, bitter man when it comes to this country.

SA government does indeed = ANC, they are the ruling party, in case you've forgotten. I am not sad or bitter thanks.

Woop! And there it is, thanks for playing "Democracy for $200"... you leave with... nothing. And dude, I know you can't see it, but you're very bitter - and you won't even tell us why :/

A strong opposition, and especially at local government level is going to make a massive difference. But since you are in this country, you most definitely aren't following by-election results in the run up to the General Election. You don't understand the voter mood and you most definitely don't understand South Africa.

Ultimately I will out-argue you on every count

You are the one coming to a 3rd world forum pointing your fingers and calling our country a "hell hole". Reading several of your posts I fail to see how your inadequacies, insecurities and total lack of understanding of the democratic process of our country should either: interest you (considering you no longer partake in this "hell hole") or how you can possible even think you have any value to add.

Nothing you have said, contributed or insulted will ever change, however leaving my country is something I am grateful you have done. Understanding my country is something you have admitted you cannot for you chose to leave.

With this in mind why would anyone choose to as you so eloquently put it: "out-argue" you is beyond me, so do not see this reply of mine as debate, but more me declining you a platform on which to debate with you until you rectify your above mentioned inadequacies.

Because I too can "out-argue" you if I had to pull an opinion out of a hat and attempt to mold it into fact dripping with vehement hate feeding only off my countries inadequacies which we are all aware of and I hope make a difference for this next election

Otherwise I hope you're enjoying your weather!

Hurricane season already? :p

But like I told him, it may not be against the rules to come to a South African forum and complain about South Africa; but it still makes him look like and ass.
