Classifieds Section Changes

Post count is one way of ensuring the legitimacy of deals, but perhaps a feedback system could also be implemented? Reputation is the new credit record you know :p

Most excellent idea. I've always been too scared to get anything from the classifieds section, because you just never know. A rating system for the seller would be appreciated, as well a location search, I haven't see one in there. Would be nice to list sellers by region, especially for people (like me) who can't wait to get stuff.

Brilliant, now i cant advertise the fact that i want to trade my iphone for a blackberry and i went and did it in another section on mybroadband and the topic got locked... wow thanks to the spammers and scammers i gotta post to fifty posts before i can advertise a genuine product.. look at my join date not even that helps.... so do i post tripe and onions till i get to fifty posts or do i post meaningfull things. seeing as how most of my questions are answered when i do a search i dont need to post to ask questions

Yeah - I'm stuck with the same problem . I often read forum topics but don't partake , I guess this will force me to be more social .

I meet the criteria to be able to post in the Classifieds section however I am still getting the usual permissions error message when try to create a new thread within classifieds.
Could somebody look into this for me please?

Thanks,
milo

You have more than 50 posts AND you have been a member for MORE than 3 months?

(can't see those details coz I'm posting from my cell)

kingmilo, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation

Kingmilo logout, clear cookies and login and that might sort it, worked for another user having the same issue the other day, I assume since you had been logged on you just completed the 50 post count and not before you were logged in.

Also at RPM - it popped up in another thread the other day, but perhaps a suggestion to change the access denied message for users below the requirement to an access denied message also containing the requirements so that multiple I"I cannot access the calssieifeds" threads don't keep popping up.

Thanks for the input D3x however that is something I tried earlier as well as using a completely different browser. rpm suggested I wait a couple hours, but still no luck when I tried this morning. Strange.

I understand

I understand this change, it really is a but difficult to swallow, though.

I think it's a great way to at least "stall" spammers and "cheats"

Good, but it does make it difficult for those with genuine items to list! 50 posts is a long way for those of us that have been on the site for a few years, and prefer to read more out of interest than actually add our 2c just for the sake of it.
However, I guess something has to be done to keep the spammers out.
Why not have a 'waiting' period in days before on may list; spammers do not have the time or desire to wait say 14 days between registration and being allowing to list an item.

Although I kinda agree with you, I also think it is important to get involved in the nice little community we have going here. For those who don't like it, there is always junkmail and gumtree. No post count required. I prefer missing out on a deal to being scammed...
