Compact car showdown - which one to get

I have had no problems with GM services. They are rated the best in the country actually. Their products come with maintenance plans and won't cost you cent for the first three years.
Even after the maintenance period expires and I have it serviced at interdependent workshops the parts are readily available and not too expensive.

You should at least compare top spec to top spec (with satnav etc)

Now would you rather drive this:

Or pay an extra a couple of ten grands more and drive this:

Just saying, that Elantra is a far prettier car and the damn "reliable" Honda Civic is such an overrated car.

Uhhh, not talking about that Civic..??

I've test driven the focus and felt cheap and like they cut corners everywhere. They don't even give you a full size spare wheel.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Fair enough but I'm pretty sure you are referring the 2012 Focus, I have one from June 2010 and the quality is superb but I chose the car cause of its chassis and engine dynamics( I drive everyday don't wont to get bored driving) , I have the sports package with 17" rims and the slightly stiffer suspension.

Well then the Type R would be the Honda counterpart to that. Not the normal Civic ;)

Well compare apples with apples here. But the hatch looks just as meh and the Type R... well, that is hot hatch and in another class all together.

Never ever buy a ford...those Americans unfortunately don't make such good cars!

None of the Fords we have in South Africa are from America... They are all from Ford-Europe which is based in Germany. Most are built locally or in India. Please get your facts straight.
