Compare your Multi-plug adapter mess and win a (small) prize

And two point plugs should be banned too.

I hateses them, especially when they lose contact frequently

Everything in Europe is only 2 point, the round type we get here sometimes, their earth sits in the wall socket and their wall sockets will happily take the 6 sided 2 point plugs as well and keep them there.

@OllieSA do you need some meatballs and sauce with that spaghetti?

Man that has to be at work right!! Cant be your home lab can it?

The adaptors are the culprit. Most local Chinese imports do not have springs around the internal sockets to return the socket back to the original size, so when you plug in plugs the sockets expand never to return to the initial size again. Now considering using plugs with different size "pins" then you would understand my drift. Mostly if I buy a adaptor I open it up and then decide to either use it and get more of the same or return/dump it!

that is still dam neat. but why 3 routers if dont mind me asking
Its actually four, if you look closely at the centre-bottom there's another one. Only two are connected though.

I got two from someone who cancelled his DSL line, the one lying upside down is my old one and the one that's on top of that I got recently with the "Simple" deal.

I only really use the two - one facing the net, and another connected to that into which my DVR and HTPC goes. All PC's plug into the one directly connected to the net. Not all my gadgets are plugged in though since we're renovating a bit so the rooms are a bit of a mess.

edit: I tried to move the TV unit last night to get a pic of that, but it was too much of a mission. That's a REAL mess :D

Bit of the topic, but few things I think most do not like and which I see in all those 'kraainesse'...

1) Those ***** simple 2 point plugs that never make proper contact.....

2) Those ***** 2 point plugs where they build the transformers into the plug part, always take up all the bloody space and never fit properly in a 2 point socket,

3) The round 2 point jobbies coming from Europe I think....

Will we ever just have one simple standard i.e. one kind of plug... we can then make proper adapters/multi-plugs for them....

They should make a 220V USB type plug. Just think of the ease with all plugs like that and a multi-plug with like 20 outlets.....

A few years back, I got fed up with 2 pin plugs. I cut them all off and replaced them with 3 pin plugs. The only things I use adaptors for cellphones, and the damn Christmas lights, which have huge transformers.

There are plenty concepts, IEC 60906 (more at Pop Mac South African invention) comes to mind.

Then there is also one based on the Folding plug that was designed by a women in Britain.

Problem is people need to pic one.

The IEC plug is legal in SA now, and I've seen places which have the sockets for them. Hopefully that type will take over, and we won't have this mess any more.

DJ's looks the most dangerous because it's covered in dust. Dust conducts electricity ...

i am curious to know what all people have connected - some of you appear to have kilometers of cable lurking around.

assuming a desktop pc you will have:
power for pc
power for monitor
power for printer
power for router
power for ext drive (perhaps)
power for ext speakers (perhaps)

what else ?
