Consumer protection act - Notebook opened warranty void

Hi Everybody

I have a Asus notebook, brand new. I have opened the notebook reloaded the notebook with my own OS image and installed all Asus drivers and software.

Problem notebook stops charging, unplug charger and plug back in charge for a short while

The Asus notebook supplier dont want to refund or give me credit because they say the following

1. I have opened notebook
2. I have loaded another Windows image

The notebook has no physical damage

So do I have any legal ground to stand on?
I bought a new Dell from a supplier, I had it up and running, the OS crashed. On startup laptop got stuck on the spinning the wheel. The machine was 1 week old, returned the laptop to original supplier, they wanted to open the lap top check for water damage etc etc. I refused to let their technical dept to open the machine, insisting that Dell owns the warranty and only Dell Tech can open it, plus the fact that it should have been replaced, by them as the original supplier. I contacted Dell Ireland, explained the situation, they in turn asked me for a copy of the invoice , I sent Dell a copy , they sent me a Credit Note for a new machine , which the original seller still kicked against. I spoke to Dell , within 24 hours original supplier supplied me with a new Dell.
That store manager disappeared soon after, Buy Dell

You broke the warranty agreement. Read the fine print. Don't try get around it. CPA means nothing. It's like fitting a turbo to your car, taking it in for a service and then moaning because your warranty is void.
Too bad, move on.
