Anyone know of any apps for converting typical MS Pocket Windows file formats, particularly word and excel to something more usable? Like OpenOffice?

After I broke my iPaq it was still working well enough for me to get all my files off it.
I basically used it for mileage logs and movie lists and simple stuff like that.

Until I get it fixed (if I do) I'll have to make do with my Palm M125 or one of my Psion Revo's so ideally I'd like to be able to convert the files to something usable by either one of those. :)

But in the first place as I use Linux I cannot even open these files on my desktop system.. :o

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I've tried googling bro, but I don't find much.

Your saying that OO can't open XLS or DOC files then? Isn't there a compatibility pack or something? ;)

Thanks :) I tried that before posting actually. :p

It does open XLS and DOC files :) The problem is that the "pocket versions" of these MS tools have a different format :( PXL (Pocket Excel) and PSW (Pocket Word) and OpenOffice does not seem capable of opening these. :(

Strange?

I just saw a file which was made with a mobile Excel version and it shows up as XLS (it's on my laptop). It was sent to me via bluetooth on a PDA running Windows Mobile.

Can't you save it as normal XLS from the PDA (I guess you can't since it's broken?) :p

Yea, you can normally.. but as noted I can't now that it's broken. :o
When it was working I never had any reason to try view the files anywhere else so I never bothered saving them in XLS format. :o

Could I offer some help?

I'll only have ADSL tomorrow, but send me an email with your files and I'll open them with my Office and resave them for you as XLS and DOC.

Email is my member name at gmail.... ;)

Got it.. Thanks :) That wasn't long at all actually. ;)

Only thing is now OpenOffice appears to be hanging while trying to open them.. :o

I opened them in Excel and resaved them 97-2003 workbook. Let me know if they work now, just sent them,
