MS Office Slow Launch Time

That's still slow for me.
If you're around an iStore check the demo machines in store for their launch times.

That's the thing, if they ran Word before they'll launch faster. Unless, you're rebooted them.

But I do understand your point. My machine has also 80% free of SSD space and 15GB of inactive RAM to take advantage of, and yes, still 5 seconds.

I did reboot them.

Im sure OP wants word/excel to open before he actually clicks the icon.

Just as a reference I opened Excel from Spotlight after a few weeks of not using it and it took 11 seconds.

Closing it fully and opening it again took about 2 seconds.

M1 Pro.

Subsequently opening it takes the same 2 seconds so I can only think there was a short activation check/update that happened the first time.

Try restarting your machine and opening Excel again. How long does it take?

I never restart my Macs, other than for updates so if that's the cause of your issues stop that right now.

Will test it in a few minutes though just for reference.

Pretty much the same as before.

First startup 9-10 seconds.

Subsequent starts 1-2 seconds.

MacOS 15.4

If you possibly migrated from an Intel Mac it's also worth checking that you aren't possibly running the Intel versions of the applications for some reason.

If you go to the App itself and press Command + I it should say "Kind : Application (Universal)" at the top.

I checked that.

There's something weird about Mac.
Only Apple software opens fast, non-Apple software takes long to open.

But is it happening only the first time or subsequently as well?

Like I said stop restarting / shutting down and already most of your problems will go away.

There isn't even a good argument closing apps fully. Close the windows if they bother you, leave the applications open.

The operating system keeps parts of the application cached in memory after you've closed it. That makes things faster when reloading. You should reboot and see how long it takes to run Word or Excel.

Do they not specifically cache the apps in the store models to make them seem faster?

As I’ve demonstrated if you’ve opened it once then it remains fast.

So the store apps would always be fast for the same reason.
