Quality and the more expensive ones have a DRAM cache, if you just using it for office stuff then a cheap one will do fine, WD blue, Sandisk, hikvision, seagate, kingston.

Above is my Geekbench CPU scores for my PC-1 and PC-2.
I don't know much about PCs but from the multi-core score above, I would think that PC-1 is better than PC-2.
In reality PC-1 is so much slower than PC-2. Both have the same version of Windows and have exactly the same software (e.g. MS Word etc) installed.

Here is a comparison of the speed in opening applications:
MS Word
PC-1 : 8 seconds
PC-2: 1.5 seconds
(It takes PC-1 8 seconds to open MS Word but only 1.5 seconds for PC-2.)

Chrome
PC-1 : 30 seconds
PC-2 : 2 seconds

Microsoft Edge
PC-1: 38 seconds
PC-2: 2 seconds

Why is PC-1 so slow compared to PC-2?
Am I missing some drivers?

Another thing, PC-1 only has CPU usage at 5% and memory usage at 55% when I try to open e.g. Chrome. So it's not like it's overworked. PC-2 also has similar usage.

A cheap SSD will max out the sata interface anyway so no point in going for the Samsung just because it has more "speed".

Unless you're going to run benchmark programs all day long, there's no need. That 16% is not something you're going to pickup with the eye IMO :p
 
I settled on the Sandisk.
There's the SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD 500GB for R1249 at Incredible Connection.
And the Sandisk 1TB SSD Plus for R1999 at Makro.

But according to this article the Ultra is faster and has 5 year warranty compared to 3 year warranty on the Plus.

The transfer process looks so easy. I think I'll do that.

 
My new 500GB SSD is installed. The PC is blazing fast now. On par with the other two PCs you see in the Geekbench screenshot.

Notice that it's using less RAM than before. Now it's at 27% before it was around 55%.
The other two machines also use around 50% RAM and are 8GB in total. I don't have an explanation for this.
It could be becuase I didn't install the Intel Management Engine and RST. That's the only things I didn't add.

I did a clean Windows install and I won't be changing anything.
For those of you that were mocking my machine, calling it "9 years old" and "ancient", this machine is now on par with the other two.

Thanks to Rickster for suggesting I get a SSD.
