mmmmm this is not nice!!!
Cool Ideas what is going on? Insufficient bandwith capacity or am I being throttled?

Suddenly after 19H00 I noticed my internet is sluggish, doing some local speedtests and my download speed is half of my upload speed!!!!

Using Archer C2 and connected via Ethernet to the router.

At times I can see the download starts at 200Mbps for about 1-2 seconds and then it is throttled down to the speeds below.

Phoned Vumatel, they tested the line and find no fault, said I must contact ISP and find out why is this happening!

That looks like a Vumatel CPT issue. The fact that you are testing to speedtest servers in cape town which would go over NAP CPT/CINX (which is free peering), It would indicate an issue on the fibre infrastructure rather than an issue on Cool Ideas side.

Things look normal from our side, can you try test at a different time tomorrow and let me know?

It is now 21H15 and speed is coming back to normal except for Cool Ideas Randburg.

Here mine, also 200/200. @Looney how the hell do you get those upload speeds? The only time I ever see anything over 10Mbps is on local speedtest!! I swear my line is incorrectly configured somewhere along the line. Questioned it quite soon after getting the line can't remember the response but it equated pretty much to, it is what it is, suck it up...

I don’t know man, what router are you using? Maybe there is something wrong with your line. It’s very weird.

Do you have any services that you have trouble uploading to?

Hi Paul, @PBCool

Sunday 09H15 and here are some tests as you requested to compare to the ones I sent last night at 20H00, 21H15, 23H00.
You can clearly see that there must be some sort of "congestion". Also some speed servers give sub 5ms latency where others give =>20ms example Vodacom CPT below. I have a suspicion it has to do with "routing tables"

Furthermore I already have a ticket open regarding "High Latency" to your Cape Town DNS resolvers. Those are not situated in Cape Town but rather in JHB I suspect and reason for there 19 - 22ms pings, if they are situated in CPT then there routing is bad.
I can ping VOX DNS resolver that is locally in CPT and it is sub 5ms Latency.

I find that from about 7pm my upload throughput to london just drops like crazy crazy... In a "burst" event such as a speed test it seems okay, but sustained upload is horrible... I'll try and do some tracert's and MTR's tonight, but they don't really show any issue with ping.

Like i said, seems i just cannot hold a decent connection throughput wise. Generally everything will drop to almost nothing for 5-10 minutes at 7pm, 8pm, 8:30pm, 9:15pm and then it seems to subside after that and all is fine again.

Anyone else having issues with Twitch streams for the last several hours? (This is usually Twitch's fault afaict but just checking it's not only me)

You’ll need to keep on annoying the ***** out of PBCool like I do. Then once he starts tearing out his hairs from being annoyed so much, magically your issues will go away.
Ahh not quite :)

Hi PbCool,

What is going on with Vuma Fibre?

I've got a 100/10 service with Vumatel, based in Randburg.

Netflix is battling on the crappiest resolution (240p) and a speedtest (from a CAT6E cable connected to my desktop) shows speeds less than 7Mb/s.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/7130228985

In the middle of typing this I see that my ISP is "Netstack Cloud Services". Last time I checked, I have a contract with Cool Ideas.

So you're rerouting traffic across a redundant link which is HEAVILY congested, and don't think to notify your customers?
Not even a text message to expect congestion?

What kind of service is this? I'm getting 6% of my line speed.
Come now really... and no support at this time.

Really guys, this is the kind of thing that makes a happy customer move.

Btw, when are you launching your 1gbps packages? We’re already almost mid March and I’m getting kinda impatient now ;)

OMG :( spare a thought for us neglected souls on a 4meg adsl.

hoping Vuma wraps up our area, i'm told we'll hopefully start house installations in a month or so.

Where do you see Netstack sounds like a VPN service? If you go to google and type what's my IP what does it tell you?
