Do you have an MTR? And which Speedtest servers are you testing to?

Results from WinMTR : https://snag.gy/GuT87M.jpg
I was using this Vuma site to test to isp handover : http://speed3-sa.venturanext.se/

ok so do you guys think a 4mb/2mb account on openserve would be enough for just gaming. if you read this thread you will understand my situation. Planning on getting aditional 4mb/2mb account with cool ideas just for gaming. Can I order it now but only start next month with it?

Here is a link to the thread I'm talking about

https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/954961-Sick-and-tired-of-high-ping-and-ISP-lying-to-me!!!!

I dont understand why you cant just port your landline number (that is now on the fibre line right?) to the new ISP.
Trust me, once you and your parents move over to CISP, issues will be at an end. For those that are not, this ISP actually do take care, especially here on MyBB.

Any issues with the steam store today? Can't seem to reach it over CISP on Openserve.

Tried my WA account and that works.

I can't due to Parents that just don't want to port numbers. I can't force them so just getting a 4mb/2mb is one option. but is it good for gaming?

Yeah I would go for that data only account. Especially if the test account worked fine.

PBCool I see you mentioned in another ticket CPT currently routes via JHB, which I did notice in my traceroutes and pings, as per your other post you guys are setting up in teraco in CPT - will you announce somewhere when this is done?

If you don't mind me asking...what exactly is routed via JHB instead of CPT?

MTN Customers in Cape Town, are first routed over MTNs longhaul to our JHB NNI, then to the rest of the network. Instead of local hand off in Cape Town.

Just curious, from CPT where to does it route to reach this server?

Sorry what do you mean? So by the looks of your trace it uses our peer with Vox in Cape Town, and accesses a server on their network in Johannesburg and returns.

Same with JHB:

4 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 154.0.2.173
5 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 154.0.2.30
6 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms vox.jinx.net.za [196.223.14.21]
7 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms a104-92-153-49.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com [104.92.153.49]

On Vox's network.

mmmm that is what I thought when I saw the latency, Why does everything always route to Johannesburg? Cost implications of having a presence in the major cities to reduce latency too High?
