Well it's not that simple and you are just making accusations :). There may be packet loss on your link which is causing poor international performance. What happens with an international Speedtest?

So the connect team gave me someone at MTN to call and I've whatsapped the guy my MTN ONT serial number and he's whatsapping his technician to configure the ONT for Cool Ideas

I hope this doesn't set the tone for my future with CISP :)

Despite the lack of follow through from the connect department, after much running around and phone calls I am now connected.

Very pleased despite the nonsense :D

Glad you're up and running. Regarding your earlier question. My experience with CISP has been awesome. Today was the longest outage I've had but all is back up and running. Speeds have always been great. Definitely won't be changing to another provider, ever. Enjoy the awesomeness of uncapped ftth!

Cool, unfortunately we do rely on the fibre providers to keep us up to date with these things.

You're in the service industry in south africa, you should know by default you need to follow up on things

We do, but you realise we would be following up with a few thousand calls a day if we had to do so with every installation?

We are also bound by an MSA that allows providers a certain amount of time to do these things, usually a week. So if you keep chasing the response is simply "We are still within MSA"

MTN going open access is very much a new thing so processes are still being streamlined.

The other carrier route has recovered so traffic has shifted back to normal FYI.

Changed some routes whilst we wait for carrier to resolve.

So, any idea what the issue was/is? Seems to be quite isolated as there don't seem to be any other performance related complaints in this thread from yesterday?

Wasn't isolated would have affected most protocols for the period which was brief. These things happen which is why we use two carriers to London. The one carrier did a Cisco upgrade and our ports didn't come up.

I am seeing strange latency and not so good download speed on Vuma side Edgemead Cape Town trenched via cable and rebooted CPE and router just to make certain. Any news or ideas?

Local speedtest.net show the even higher latency but full download speed :)
Do you have an MTR? And which Speedtest servers are you testing to?
