Just want to check how the other openserve people are doing. I still seem to be getting lag spikes in games quite often even though it is much much better. Anyone else?

PBCool,
Can you please help, been trying to get my Cool Ideas service to work (Bheki doesn't get back to me 3x now !!!)
#COOL-20180803-131288
Only been with Cool Ideas for about 2 weeks but have noticed it happen a few times (not enough to be unusable but annoying when it happens). Happened in Fortnite (EU servers) where ping jumped from 170 to 900-1000ms for a few seconds and then comes back down. Also happened in FIFA yesterday (SA servers) where I could only get 1 bar latency. Left it and came back in a few hours when it went back to normal (full 5 bar latency)Just want to check how the other openserve people are doing. I still seem to be getting lag spikes in games quite often even though it is much much better. Anyone else?
Sorry, forgot to add the #Ref : #COOL-20180731-129803
Hi, packet loss is due to congestion on the MFN network, as per a couple posts back, they are trying to implement a network change to address this.
With regards to the account the only queuing portion we do is on your PPP account, so if you are being billed for 25Mbps this means your account was upgraded, I have checked your profile as well and it's 25/25 on our side so the only thing that would throttle is your physical line. Have you tried bypassing your router and connecting that way to ensure it's not router related?
Thanks for info regarding the packet loss. Will read up more on it and hope they resolve it soon.
I have done the testing with the technicians at Cool Ideas. I plugged into the MetroFibre device and created a PPPoE dial up and also changed fly leads ETC.
Profile is at 25Mb now however I had complained in a ticket that it reflected 10Mb when I was asked to test speed then changed a day later.
I suggested the PPPoE account be deleted and recreated by was told that is not the process and to do as told, which I had then done to no avail.
MetroFibre insist this is an ISP issues.
I honestly want my speed that I have paid for and not looking to play the blame game with anyone, hence me bringing this here for advise and help.

Hi PBCool
I still think there is a problem from CPT to JHB. So I still get random packet loss in CSGO, but I dont think its related to the server its going to, but rather the national backhaul.
Prestine MTR while playing CSGO, 0% packet loss:
Code:Size Range: 28-4470, < 0:random. Host Loss% Snt Last Avg Best Wrst StDev 1. router.heaven.za.net 0.0% 330 0.2 0.2 0.2 0.3 0.0 2. 155.93.243.1 0.0% 330 40.3 8.1 0.9 200.2 29.2 3. c3h-backbone.coolideas.co.za 0.0% 329 1.0 0.9 0.9 1.1 0.0 4. cd-backbone.coolideas.co.za 0.0% 329 1.2 1.2 1.1 11.5 0.6 5. c6t-backbone.coolideas.co.za 0.0% 329 20.8 20.8 18.5 28.2 1.4 c1p-backbone.coolideas.co.za 6. unq-cust.coolideas.co.za 0.0% 329 20.7 21.8 18.5 183.8 9.3 7. 196-60-9-22.ixp.joburg 0.0% 329 23.8 21.3 18.6 34.1 1.9 8. 192.168.210.49 0.0% 329 23.5 28.1 19.1 90.8 14.4 9. 155.133.238.163 0.0% 329 22.9 21.4 18.5 42.5 2.0
However, look at this strange graph to a CSGO server:
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=GAME-SERVERS.Valve-JNB
block up and down all the time. I guess thats because of the different paths it follow if you look back at the MTR.
The thing is, it happens to even CISPs own servers:
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=CISP.CISP-Vumatel-webserver
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=CISP.CISP-Vumatel-twitch-relay
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=CISP.CISP-Vumatel-jnb-r1
But in CPT it looks perfect:
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=CISP.CISP-Vumatel-ic
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=CISP.CISP-Vumatel-dns-1
Even to London looks great:
https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=CISP.CISP-London
What kind of load balancing is used on the different routers on the national backhaul?
My packet loss sometimes jump up to 30% for 5 seconds then go back down to 0%. I think it even happens at the same time, as the blocks go up/down as the route changes. Very strange, but annoying in a game when you die.
Curious, the load balancing is just ECMP based, one path via Fibreco and the other via Liquid, I can statically route the CSGO IP over one of the paths and see if it improves?
The server floats over IPs in that /24, so might need to test with the whole /24.
Can do that, will see if I can implement the change later this evening.
EDIT, ok have implemented for your /24 and the CSGO /24 to use the Liquid path which has slightly lower latency.
