4hrs later, still no sync(sync went down at start of loadshedding even with UPS on CPE)

nearly 48hrs now where fiber briefly worked for 2hrs.

Fantastic network Vumatel, you are giving Octotel a run for the money.

Damn!! to late, already bought 2x 7ah Sealed Lead acid batteries from battery centre and replaced it in UPS, UPS back up and running. Old UPS batteries where flat after just 2.3 hour, so my connection to Fibre dropped and now I sit in the "firestorm" **** waiting for the CPE to connect and get an IP..........

Gel is too expensive, lead acid is fine for this type of use. Damn, your old batteries must’ve been toast, my 650VA UPS has 1x 7.2ah battery and that powers my router, ONT and Ubiquiti AP for 2,5 hours. I’ve ordered an RCT 1000VA though because I want to add my NAS on as well.

The strangest thing is, during load shedding my UPS turned off every 7 minutes, I then powered it back up and the CPE connected no problem, this happened for 2.3 hours until the UPS battery was flat, then when load shedding was over, the CPE cannot establish a link at all.

So during Load shedding no issue to reconnect every 7 minutes, but now after 3H14 minutes it cannot connect.... how is that for insane!

You sat there and turned your ups on every 7 minutes? That's dedication....

Sounds to me like you need a new ups.

My light doesn't sync which indicate its Vuma problem at least for me.

around 2hrs ago I got sync but no internet but I could see that the traffic died before exiting Vuma network so in both situations its not CISP related.

4 hours down now.

Vuma trenched northern suburbs.

Is vuma's DHCP server a raspberry pi?

Also, vuma says call ISP after 2 hours...
ISP says its vuma... so basically no fix, nor resolution, nor timeframes, nor contingency plan, nor way forward, nor forward thinking

Batteries where replaced after load-shedding was over. But now going on 4 Hours and still no internet, just a blinking blue light on the CPE.

This is exactly what I mean with Vumatel have absolutely no clue what is happening on their own network. The ISP can do absolutely nothing if the stupid network is unable to even sync.

Is it coincidence that Vumatel is utterly useless after they were bought out ? I dont believe in coincidences, something happened with the buy out and we are now seeing the side effects.

Remgro, get your finger out of your ass and manage your business properly. Vumatel is going down the toilet since you bought them out. What cost cutting did you implement after the buy out ? Buy outs always turn out to be based on some cost cutting BS, thanks idiots.

Its really a vuma issue, friends around the corner were lucky yesterday to get back online not long after the power came online. Tonight they are still down after the power came back at 16:30...they with afrihost.

I got my inet inside 2 hours a few hours before other friends on CISP.

With that said CISP might be affected in other ways. My inet had my micro drops all the time laat night, making FPS game play a challenge. Could have been them, vut maybe not.

Those micro outages were vumatel drops. I came online for 2hrs to experience the same problems. Network traffic showed clearly that the packetloss originated before even hitting CISP.

Vumatel network is suddenly imploding even when it is online is my only conclusion.

@PBCool

Serious question since you have better channels of communication with these networks. Please get us actual honest answers and not these vomit inducing responses that simply do not hold up.

1. Which POPs have no backup power ? There must be many and why do Vumatel claim their network have backup power everywhere.

2. Why did Vumatel not have a single instance such as the last 2 days during loadshedding in 2018 or 2017 ? The DHCP storm excuse is straight up lies and blanket excuses just to save face. Can you get us the real reason ?

3. When will they resolve the actual network issues experienced since yesterday ? Keep in mind Sunday also had loadshedding and we did not have these issues. Only on Monday did these issues start and not go away for second day counting now.

4. Is there actually unreported fiber breaks since yesterday that leads to the sudden overloading now due to rerouting of traffic onto overloaded functional POPs ? Something since yesterday is entirely new in the realm of fkedness compared to any situation before yesterday.

Entering hour 5 of no syncing. Just get honest factual answers for us and not PR answers. We can handle the truth as long as it is the truth and not more PR spin out of Vumatel mouth.

I will be cancelling my CISP account end of February if this continues. At no point do I blame CISP as this is clearly Vumatel issue but if you are able to get actual answers and resolutions being worked on I might reconsider.

At this moment it is total waste of money that I could rather spend on mobile data just to get work done than to pay for Fiber account and mobile data as I am right now.

Makes sense yes.

Also think something expensive broke somewhere which is causing other issues.

Now we just have to play the waiting game I guess.
