You mention multiple times you have the UPS on the CPE. Just checking, its on both the CPE and router not only the CPE?

lol :)

Yes its on the CPE and router. Before yesterday the network would just die the moment power goes off. Yesterday was a bit different as some other users also reported. Right before load shedding were scheduled the fiber died first before any power went off then 2minutes later the load shedding started. It was as if Vumatel preemptively killed the network at the POP to avoid surge, things just getting stranger and stranger.

Ok I wasn't sure if you expected a better outcome and thus posted that MTR to show a bad outcome. Your MTR looks perfectly fine.

I wouldn't say they belong to CISP, its a redstation based server if anything you are just testing redstation ingress network more than CISP controlled network point. The only controlled test here would be up until you extra CISP network which is far down the line before you get to queen.cisp.co.za destination.

The first 2 CISP wont have control over(directly) over especially the last 2 which enter redstation datacenter they would have ZERO control over from what I can see.

I wasn't trying to be obtuse I was just trying to show that international seems fine on Octotel down here.

I know that when you run iperf tests you run them to lnms.cisp.co.za (local server) and iperf.cisp.co.za (international server) meaning CISP must trust them enough to make them control tests.

Hehe ok cool, well it takes a lot to have a good Octotel connection so bigup :D

Sorry I should have been more specific, it was only relative to JHB.

This is resolved.
Thanks, working again :)

Any idea why this past week my latency to the coreix server went from 167ms to 180+ms ?

I have noticed this as well. Thought it had something to do with the load shedding as it has been like this ever since my power came back on Monday evening but it has not improved.

Hehe ok cool, well it takes a lot to have a good Octotel connection so bigup :D

off peak is fine. Peak time the network craps the bed from congestion. Therodent worked hard to gather evidence and showed it to Octotel who are FINALLY looking into it and then this BS with Eskom happens.

So I'm not liking my odds of them finding the issue anymore since 50% of the time I have no internet to be congested.

Gotta just wait and hope I guess.

@PBCool : Is there any update on the Openserve capacity issue in CT you guys were having?

The new CPT 10G crossconnect went in today and there is link. We will be working with Telkom IPC engineers to bring it live.

Joburg 10G crossconnect is also in, and being worked on.

No specific ETA for live yet, but this is the last bit that needs to be done.

When do you anticipate to cut back over to your own backhaul?

Any time from now (tm) ;)

We are doing some work with a new transit provider in the UK (Cogent) in order to help us get around HE's IPV6 tunneling latency issues, and some core switch work at the same time. We should be back up by the weekend if all goes well.

Telkom IPC upgrades come first though ....

Hi Tranq, sorry. Yes, netstream have deployed a test CPE in order to "simulate" the issue. I haven't been tracking the Whatsapp conversation closely but there is some movement. Will let you know if I have info.
Thanks I'd appreciate it, glad that there is finally something happening. Hopefully it won't take another 3 months before further progress is made.
