All my equipment except for dvr is connected through wifi

Should you guys have supplied a better router then?

WiFi is susceptible to interference, from your neighbours, to microwave ovens. We cannot control that.

CoolChick is a legit representative, I'll ask one of the mods to update her title. Not, that it seems anyone cared about mine.

I was just impressed you even changed your avatar

@CoolChick, I wish you the best of luck! This bunch is hardcore. So am I. I hope you have thick skin to deal with the flak thats coming your way.

Seeing how people react to reps, not just in here but back in the day with afrihost. I would not become a rep for love or money. Goodluck!

Thank you, that helps us all understand the issue a little better I hope. I cannot speak for everybody but sometimes I forget that networks are not an easy thing to diagnose when they are spread out over a large geographical area and expect it's something simple to resolve. Thanks for taking the time to clarify as per your post. It is appreciated more than you realise.

This, we all understand that technology has small little things that can go wrong and issues need to be sorted out but just as long as we are told that you know there is an issue and you are working on it makes a world of difference. It is like I log onto your network information and it shows green and 'no issues" and you think is it me, is one of my computers? is it my modem?

It is not only cool ideas but I have had it with other ISP's as well where there network monitor on the website shows clear but there is a problem on the network. People just want to know what is going on so we can troubleshoot correctly if we know it is not the network

Increased packet loss and latency between Parklands and Teraco Isando has been resolved. A faulty optical connector was replaced after extensive troubleshooting.

Cool, looking forward to things going back to normal.

Thanks

The DDOS was an entirely seperate issue, but resulted in pronounced packet loss and international slowdowns.

As for the optics: We were trying to isolate the fault over the weekend, but access to physical locations, fibre backhaul vendors, and equipment held us up until it was finally pinpointed and resolved this morning. It was also not a consistent issue, which made it hard to resolve.

Our network is pretty large, and complex, I can't exactly give you a diagram here on a public forum.

We do try and be as transparent as possible.

There was another DDOS attack this afternoon, but it was successfully mitigated. They happen all the time, but they don't always affect our network.

Thanks for clarifying, as this makes more sense to me given that I’ve had issues for about a week now.

I also appreciate the assistance from CoolChick as I have received an updated suppport response.

Some ISPs were the target of DDOS attacks over the last few days. The issue seems to have been resolved though.

View attachment 640412

ping stats for the last three and half hours or so.

Which other ISPs were affected and does anyone have any idea why SA ISPs are even being targeted? Seems odd, we're pretty disconnected/isolated from the rest of the world.

This is after already downloading the thing for a couple of minutes. Probably like 5. So 16min for a 65.5mb file on a 20mbps line.

Don't piss on me and call it rain please.
