JINX services are restored.

TheRoDent, what's the story with fibre in Maboneng. My business is completely down. Have to use LTE to send this. Please advise when we can expect services to be restored with Maboneng Fibre.

I see the CPT speedtest server is down. Got minimal packet loss on all iperfs. Using the proxy gets me near line speed on international.

I had heard great things about Cool Ideas when I decided to go with them. My experience so far is nowhere close to great.

Only "great" when you are not having issues. When you actually have an issue be prepared to wait hours/days for a response. The response is usually some kind of diversion. They give you the run around and keep asking for bogus info. Finally when you have provided all the info they have asked for they simply ignore your ticket. I phoned their support after months of being ignored and the support guy asked me if i want the *bs* answer or no answer at all. Clearly they have trained their support teams to simply dance around issues.

My ticket is still open since feb, i have given up on this lot. Waiting on an openserve line to move else where. Am sure anybody else is better than this lot.

Getting full line speed here, 200/200 mbps on Vumatel with Cool Ideas

There is a major fibre break between Parklands and Teraco, we switched to our backup path which is where the interruption came from.

I never do... I pay for a 100mb line, but get 45-50...

They tell me its my router, I need to run a wired connection, because we live in 1989.
Well I pay for a 200/200 line and only getting the 45-50 you talking about. Sent tickets and iperfs and details. Still waiting for a response from the tech team.

I think everybody singing the praises of cool ideas and everyone moving over to them has broken their system. if I am not up and running correctly by the end of May, I will be jumping ship

Anyone know what the fibre cancellation penalty is on CoolIdeas? I signed up mid-Feb. They gave me their standard crappy fibre route, which I will be very happy to give back to them.
I'm gonna move to VOX. I've been with them with ADSL before, and they were just plain awesome.

It's a calendar month, is there anything I can assist with?

It's got more to do with the fibre networks having issue with capacity.

My thoughts exactly. The issues I've been dealing with occur most often during peak hours where throughput drops quite badly (mostly internationally though, which doesn't make sense to me why local is always fast), which screams congestion of some type. I've dealt with ADSL exchange congestion many years ago which was a long-fought battle, eventually roping in ICASA to get Telkom to do something about it.

It's so difficult to get these network operators to admit they've oversold capacity as they seem to only respond to obvious faults such as major packetloss. One would think companies that specialize in fibre deployment and operation would be ahead of the curve on these things

This is the "standard line", so why is it when you conclude that after investigating do you never get back to state that ?

In my case the iperf tests show negligible packet loss, indicating no issues with the fibre network capacity. Pointing more to an issue with your international transit capacity.

So after all the run around collecting all kinds of test data for you there has been no response, you have simply ignored my ticket cause you do not want to deal with the fact that my case has nothing to do with "the fibre networks having issue with capacity."
