I submitted a ticket asking whether I can have my account frozen or suspended for the duration as we won't be living there while renovations happen.

The reply was that I'd have to cancel my service and sign up again in July, but also that I'd have to pay R999 in July as Cool Ideas only waive the connection fee once per address per client.

That will make me consider my options in July, even though I'm a very happy CISP client.

Hi There, as mentioned to your PM we cover the first connection fee, if you cancel and signup again in a months time for example we are billed a connection fee by Vumatel again. We cant keep covering the cost as already we only start making profit within a few months.

This situation is not by choice but is the way that the Vumatel system works.

It is a connection fee more than an installation fee.

Vuma charges all ISP's R999 activation fee, Cool Ideas pays this the first time you sign up, but after that, you need to pay for it if you cancel and sign up again. That is my understanding
 
So, for 4 months he won't be paying R1300 for his internet, assuming he has the 100mbps package and then complains for paying R999 again. Either that or keep the account active, since the new ISP will also charge a connection fee...
 
I suppose I should wait with complaints about my first hop until after Vuma has fixed their capacity problems in Cape Town? I get big spikes every now and then.

This is in Durbanville, Vumatel trenched.

Every night from between 20:00 and 20:30, my connection slows down. I use a Roku, plugged in directly with a cable to the router, the cable being about 1 meter. I stream Netflix and Hulu, obviously using a dns service. Hulu and Netflix stream without any hiccups before 20:00- clear full hd picture.

This has been happening for the last two weeks. I've tried restarting all equipment a few times.

I am situated in the Noordhang are (close to Olivedale).

What do you need from me to determine what is going on???

Yeah they have pushed the upgrade up to this weekend.

Hi, you say you are "obviously using a DNS service" can you elaborate?

Try the above services without the proxy, note the speed, then turn on the proxy and note the speed.

If there is a difference, you know it's the proxy.
 
Looks like A360 with Seacom does not peer with these guys Netstack.... Can anyone on CI try doing a trace route?

Guys how do I pay CI without a debit order, Billing said I should be able to do it on the Customer Portal but can't see that option.
Anyone have any helpful tips?
