Been testing the value of a VPN with some interesting results.

Higher latency but much better download rate from Europe.

Best results are with using the CISP proxy.

50/50 line on Frogfoot.

@TheRoDent International latency still higher than usual - is this because of the "upgrades" Octotel performed last night or something on the network?

Interesting - it appears to just be to speedtest.coreix.net - I get 140ms to another location in the UK.

Welcome to the club. Look at the result differences I've been posting of using the proxy vs not on Octotel. Its mind bending.

@image132, please can you share the proxy info with me.

I'm also struggling in the evenings.

Did you come right? Did the proxy make any difference for you?

Hi all,

I've been experiencing some pretty bad upload speeds to international. < 10mbit multithreaded on a 100mbit+ uplink. Please can you post your speedtest uploads to the Coreix - London site.

It's been super random. For the most part on the lower end.

Had a single decent test.

My upload is good. Wont talk about download... (Octotel cough cough)

Seems the routing to that server changed between 12:05 and 12:20 today.

Windows 10, Wifi connection to router (around 500mbps link speed)

Wifi test can never give accurate results, too many stuff that can cause signal interference.
For Accurate test results you must test with a Ethernet cable connected to Router, or CPE/ONT in case router has issues.

Their seems to be a bit of a latency issue in London on the network Coreix is running from.

It is a AC1600 5Ghz wifi connection. I pretty much got line of sight and only 3 meters away from router. It is pretty solid and I dont mind that extra 1ms of latency.

Edit: Seems my Wifi is better than your LAN with uploads

Very interesting. Will test once home and see what I get.

Pretty sure the routing changed again which explains the lower speedtest results experienced on coreix speedtest as example.

Whenever the london ping shoot up to 168-171ms its due to different international route taken.

The optimal results come when the latency to coreix test is 140-141ms flat.

I notice these routes changing every single day for over a month now.

If it is actually the same route with the different results then there must be some sort of heavy congestion, I have not digged into this beyond noticing the clear performance and latency differences.

Well the higher latency seems to be on the Coreix peering network in London, as it is 140ms on the CISP part.

@PBCool
Did Octotel do anything this morning? I cannot load an international webpage, never mind stream. Why is this happening all the time.? Local is also slower than usual.
