Cool Ideas Fixed 5G/4G Feedback Thread

The APN has started dropping every 30 - 60 minutes since this morning.

I did do a reboot earlier in case.

Up until the maintanance last night I had a solid stable session for over 14 days.
 
Something is happening again. Looks like no 5G:

The pics I posted were taken early morning after rebooting. Is there any settings I need to check like mobile network, network bands, IPV settings etc.?
Typically you would go to System --> Device information. If you see 5G cell information, then you would be on 5G

That 5G indicator on the home screen is not always accurate

There's no 5G info, only 4G. What about bands? Should all bands be 'checked' under 4G and 5G?

Yes by default all bands are checked in the developer options. If they are not, I would recommend clicking the clear band locks button here:

This is actually becoming an unusable service. Even if its value for money there's no point if you can't use it. My work vpn keeps disconnecting randomly. The whole day non stop. Then it comes back as if nothing ever happened.

Same issue we had before last nights operation.

Unfortunately we are in VCs hands at this point, its affecting multiple ISPs.
 
HI all, Vodacom made some additional changes regarding the hourly disconnect issue. From what I can see, the last disconnect was around 15:04pm. Can you all confirm if you are also stable now? @Jason-ZA @SHL @RamiroJ , etc

Can you also confirm if you have noticed any issues accessing sites at all?

The disconnects are looking better, my current session is lasting longer than an hour now.

So far so good. Playing Warzone online. For the last hour no disconnects. Ping is stable at 20-23.

I cleared the band locks and I now see the 5G information.

I have received MTN sim card an hour ago. The speeds are not as glorious as the Vodacom5g when it was working, but I hope MTN will be stable. Plus, I will be able to use google RCS.

@CoolEscalator: Apparently Vodacom will be doing maintenance on their 5G network again this evening to fix the issues that many of the Afrihost customers have been experiencing. Any idea if CI customers are also going to be affected ? I am personally hoping that they leave things as they are for CI 5G customers at the moment !

HI there, I don't believe we will form part of this, as some ISP's still had issues after the Maintenance, where others did not.
I believe afrihost formed part of the group that had issues post change.

If we did form part of this, we would have sent a notification out by now.

We also did have issues post, however they were soon resolved, where other were not.
 
Hi Cool Ideas.

I see that I am unable to access https://clientzone.afrihost.com/en/ , I have a hosted site there and am unable to login when I am on my Vodacom 5G service. This works fine when using other providers. The same happens when trying to access Air Mobile for managing my simcard. Could you maybe check if something is getting blocked?
