Cool Ideas Fixed 5G/4G Feedback Thread

So does your internet stop during those times or just not perform? If you have fibre as an option obviously we would recommend you stick to that as your primary.

It stops as in I can't even load web pages like MyBB threads when it happens. Then it starts working again, on and off for a few minutes at at time sometimes, but only during those evening hours.

I don't have fibre so I'm hoping to use this until I do, which will only be a year from now when I move.

@PBCool I have noticed the same thing, every evening since I posted the other night, whenever it happens the trace looks like the one in the quoted post below. The traffic stops just before 10.99.22.17, there is something strange happening with a router somewhere, its usually at its worst at around 20:00.

Anyone else having any issues with Vodacom atm?
My monitoring picked up issues with it, but this is just my backup connection, not actively using it at the moment.

Trace to 1.1.1.1

I can confirm around 8pm is the worst. I've monitored it for the last three nights. Same issue every night. Will see if it happens again in an hour.

@Jason-ZA @Forum Reader do you lock your routers to a certain tower by any chance? Or just leave it as is?
If you do, would you mind removing those locks to see if there is any difference?

No locks or anything like that on my side, however I did not take a CISP supplied router on sign up, I am using a "ZTE MC801A" which I already had.

If I am at my PC when or if it happens again later il try grab another trace when it happens.

Also do you mean 100.99, and not 10.99?

Yep sorry, I meant 100.99, I dont see the 100.99.22.17 hop and onwards when the issue happens, when it recovers I then see 100.99.22.16 for a little while then it changes back to 100.99.22.17 until the next drop.

For reference, this is tonight so far:

And this was last night.

APN has been connected for 17 hours without a drop, so from me upto the APN has been fine.

Very odd, as I don't see those disconnects on your session, so definitely something more upstream, what are you pining there?

For example, I see a session for your link from:
2026-02-18 22:42:48 to 2026-02-23 01:13:49 (4 days, 2 hrs, 31 min)
And current session is 2026-02-23 01:14:45 to Present (18 hrs, 9 min)

Seems quite stable , but I guess not...

Nope, would be the "5G lock" in the developer settings.
But thanks, just wanted to rule that out. :)

Would you also mind doing a trace when you encounter the issue again?

Ok, will do a trace when the issue happens. This is what it looks like currently:1771867892737.png

No issues tonight yet.

In that particular screenshot the smokeping is pointing to 154.0.2.41, but I have more smokepings that point to the following IPs and they all look the same:
154.0.2.41 (JHB)
154.0.15.182 (CPT)
167.99.194.90 (UK)
38.180.52.112 (madvpn)

The traceroute from the other night was to 1.1.1.1.

Hi there @Jason-ZA @Forum Reader , are you guys seeing the disconnects at the moment?

As im seeing this,. The DNS ones don't show loss, as it doesn't seem to go over that 100.99.22.17 hop mentioned
