Cool Ideas Fixed 5G/4G Feedback Thread

My signal stats.

The SINR on 5G is excellent, but, the RSSI seems on the low side?
I get the same speeds on the ZTE G5TS and MC801A. Both routers have two external antenna inputs.
Do you think, @cavedog , an antenna will help with upload?
Would the router still do 2CA on LTE and be able to combine with 5G? I guess I don't need 2CA on LTE if the upload is happening on the 5G band. I won't mind sacrificing a bit on the download to gain more upload.

It will likely use 4G as upload and Band 1 also. Not sure why it doesn't use 3 because that is usually the best for uploads on 4G. Might be a tower issue or just the conditions of the signal.

I can get fibre but prices keep rising and I do not need TBs of data. I have backup and portable Telkom and MTN connections all for a sum total lower than fibre.

If you need upload then that is a solution, from a consistency perspective fibre will always be superior. So just a thought :)

HI there @feesbees @susefan
Trust you are wel
We have finally been able to set up a meeting for the 30th to troubleshoot this issue with Vodacom and Afrihost.
Will provide feedback accordingly
Hi @feesbees @susefan , we have concluded the meeting with Vodacom and afrihost.
Vodacom unfortunately could not resolve the fault during the meeting, however they have all the info now, and will investigate further. We are pending feedback on their findings

Change was Successful, you should be able to reach the Afrihost services you were not able to reach before

This is a band-aid fix, that will become pernament this week (hopefully)

Please let me know if there are any issues post change , but thus far, I have not picked up any issues post change.
:)

Thanks for getting this sorted, I can confirm that I can login to the afrihost portal now, and the airmobile app works now :)

Yup it's working, thank so much!

Nice! I was about to log this yesterday and now I see it's already fixed. Thanks.

On a different note, I am curious to see if anybody is on the MTN package and the speeds they're getting?

Thanks, I assume that is on MTN? Can you post your signal stats? Should be under network status or something.

Yes, it's on MTN. I am testing on desktop web browser. I don't know how to get signal stats.

@ajax: Are you on the R359 or the R559 package ? I think that the download and upload speeds also vary depending on the package, not just the FUP. I would guess that the top level packages should have the fastest upload speeds. From my experience on Vodacom, the speeds also vary depending on the amount of traffic on the tower.

@susefan: Which package are you signed up for ?

Nah, mostly the upload ranges from 10-20% of what you get on the download, seems to be the common trend with these Fixed Cellular services, Upload will always be on the lower end. I wouldn't say its FUP/Package dependant
