Cool Ideas VPN Server(s)

Hello! I was looking around for ISP's that had access to that SACS cable and I read up on cool ideas adding and then removing that due to negative feedback. Then I saw another post somewhere from 2022 mentioning that you may add this as a VPN option down the line.

Does anyone know if that will ever happen? Or is the number size just way too small to bother?
If we can get the capacity at a good deal we would turn something up, but no major demand. What are you looking for?

Might just be better to get a VPS from say ipxon.net in Fortaleza or Sao Paulo install a simple pptp and iptables allow only Cool Ideas ranges. Cap speeds per pptp user to say 5Mbps and then sorted. Competing with services like ExitLag on transit/bgp level for networks is just not possible.

Setup Bilateral or just get it from the route servers in CPT, DUR and JHB although they are not on the route servers in JHB for some reason and done.

Was going to look for a host that Angola cables services.

It's pretty much what we did for Singapore etc.

They probably don't want to cover the NLD if they don't have to :)

Hallo,

PBCool, sorry for the delayed response.
The main thing I was looking for was lower ping to games that didn't have za servers, but were not matchmaking dependent. An example was Diablo 4. I was hoping I could get lower ping to something like their South American servers. At the time I was asking though, I didn't realize something like exitlag could do that. Some of the comments here made it sound like it can, which I imagine would be easier to do.

With it you can go to Singapore or Brazil. Singapore ping is around 120/130ms depending where you situated.

They use to have a free trial which you didn't even need to use a credit card for so maybe give it a bash. Not every game is setup the same so some might have routes to regions while others don't. I never had any problems using it.

Hi
I originally tried to do what you want to do, by running an entry and exit wireguard VPN on a set of vps to lower ping for certain games. This works great if you want to lower the ping for multiple games, devices, and consoles. I have 3 gamers in the house who some have friends over now and again.
I also have exitlag subscription, which I picked up in a promotion and for a single PC gamer exitlag blows away anything you or the ISP can build. Select your game, the region you want to play in and it works straight out of the box.
