Hi,
Once again I need to upgrade a machine due to the motherboard/processor failing. As in the problem is it freezes and sometimes the lines on the screen go wavy. Also, it makes a long whining sound on startup and a high pitched sound whenever the 3rd/4th core is used when checking Taskmanager. It is not the graphics card, have tested that (bought a new one) and not the HDD (still happens when booting from a live version of Ubuntu on a USB). Also not overheating due to having installed another intake and outtake fan, the air inside it is cool (yes, the air intake has a higher airflow than the outtake).
It currently is an i7-950 + Gigabyte motherboard with 6x 2GB @ 1333Mhz in tri-channel from back in 2009, so I need to swap it anyways.
tl,dr section:
Need upgrade.
Has to be used for animation + gaming, not swapping to an SSD just yet.
currently looking at:
Wootwares i7-4790k: http://www.wootware.co.za/intel-i7-...evil-s-canyon-socket-lga1150-desktop-cpu.html @ 4699
the i7 has a higher frequency than the i7-4790, so thought it worth the extra R172 from rebel-tech.
Can't make up my mind which one of these motherboards:
1. ASRock Z97 Pro4 Intel Z97 Chipset Socket 1150 ATX Desktop Motherboard @ R1'549
2. ASRock Z97 ANNIVERSARY LGA1150 Intel Z97 USB3.0 ATX Desktop Motherboard @ R1'554
and
3. ASRock Z97 Extreme4 Intel Z97 Chipset LGA1150 ATX Desktop Motherboard
The third one has more USB 3.0 headers, anything else?
