Cricket: International Discussion Thread

I wasn't impressed with how overstated the coverage was of Root's first Ashes century in Australia. It's like "can you at least win the game first?"
Everyone knows they’re not winning a game so may as well take the small wins.

The longer Stokes stays out there with a strike rate less than 50, the longer he has to have that epiphany that aggression isn't always the right approach.

Although I think its only out if he's retired out if he reaches 50 with a strike rate of under 75.

Edit: well, basically done

That is just childish from Smith. What a catch! Difference between the two sides aptly demonstrated right there.

If you follow English cricket, you’ll know that he plays like this often.
And gone. This is the thing with Stokes. He can actually play test cricket, but like a bad poker player, he always wants to go all-in. Good knock that.

I know that, but as captain, and under Baz as a coach, he hasn't done it enough. Even in this test, it would have made perfect sense to bat like this in the first innings, but it only crossed his mind once the match was gone.

His strike rate as captain is 62.33. He batted at half that (32.9) today.
He starts slowly and accelerates.

Root also bats the same as he always did.

The bazball style you are obsessed with would be from the likes of Crawley, Bairstow, Ducket, Smith and occasionally Pope.
