Turned into to quite a good session there at the end. Awesome to get KP out cheaply!!

Quite brave from Anderson to stay after that blow to the face.

Bell out.

Morkel to Bell, OUT, shorter, wider but extra bounce, and AB de Villiers in the gully pulls off a screamer! Bell went for the cut, didn't get over it, and de Villiers dived forward and plucked a brilliant chance with one hand, going hard to his right.

145/5

We need Andre Nel, next match, I'm sorry Harris isn't cutting it. Forget spin-friendliness or lack of it this case of the pitch the guy is clueless. Bring on Gunther...

I would have been nice to win by an innings and a bit. But hey 9 runs to get should not be such a challange. :D

That must be one of the quickest innings in history.... :)

1.1 Pattinson to McKenzie, 1 run

End of over 1 (8 runs) - South Africa 8/0
GC Smith 3* (3b) SCJ Broad 1-0-8-0
ND McKenzie 5* (3b 1x4)

0.6 Broad to Smith, no run, banged in short and wristed off the back foot to point
0.5 Broad to McKenzie, 1 run, short and pulls it away round to fine leg to level the scores
0.4 Broad to McKenzie, FOUR, short and pulled away through square
0.3 Broad to McKenzie, no run, good length, just outside off, left alone
He's on for Anderson, who has remained off the field, most likely because of the blows he received earlier
0.2 Broad to Smith, 3 runs, short outside off, cut away through cover point where the sub fielder lets it go through his legs. Perhaps he wants his dinner
0.1 Broad to Smith, no run, pushed off the back foot to the covers
Broad is back in action now, this time with the ball. This should be brief

Congrats boys - good win - solid performance. I still say get Albie in there in place of Ashwell (expects flaming to ensue) and find another bowler of colour to replace Ntini before Aus as they will rip him to shreds...

Check the scorecards re Prince...

Exactly why I expected flaming. But I am not a fan as his consistency is shocking and I reckon Albie with the right training could be the next big all-rounder for us. He really isnt just a one day player and I know he has stated that his goal is to make the test squad. He cannot only be selected as a bowler or a batsman - he is a true all rounder...

Not sure how they drop Prince after he gets 149... also not sure we need another bowler. Might be a little light on the batting front then even if Albie is an all rounder, he ain't no Prince

his consistency?

dude, check up on his batting over the last 3 years. In 06 he was the only SA batsmen to score runs consistently.

If consistency is your criteria, why not drop Kallis?

And he is man of the match. Dont get me wrong, he is playing well now and if his consistency can improve then I might change my mind about him. I dont think there is anything he can do that Albie cant having watched them both in domestic and international cricket. I think they need the young guns to be brought in from a young age when their is a possible gap but there is a fine balance between youth and experience. I will dare to commit to a prediction, but I envisage two single digit scores for Prince in the next test, regardless of what he says about form...
