Thanks. I tried that earlier. Does not accept my password. All I can think is that they changed my password again without letting me know. If I wanted to struggle like this, I would go back to Openweb.

Drop CW a message or hit up live chat and the issue will be resolved quickly.

Yes, but if there was congestion, then all the hops after hop 2 would also suffer.
Not really. The times are hop to hop. So one can be congested and the others are fine. You latency is the worst hop.

That's the way I understand it....if I am wrong, please correct me

Hey, I'm no expert either :p Also trying to understand this...

I'm sure this is the right thread to get as decent answer though :)

You're wrong.
Times are cumulative at each hop.

The slow one in that case is because of an overloaded device (as opposed to an overloaded link) that takes too long to generate a TTL expired message. Normal traffic is passed through more quickly (something called FastPath).

Are there any known issues on the network? For the first time ever, the "internet" light on my router is red. Will phone support after 8:00.

I've decided this is the route I'm going for monitoring my usage. I think I'll prefer this option in the long run, after watching some Youtube videos on this particular option, other cheaper popular options and the current functionality of the Fritz!Boxes (before firmware alteration by CW).

1st purchase - Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway (R2135):

2nd purchase - Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key (R1795):

The first device relegates my router to being purely a modem, and unlocks all the extra functionality currently locked in my existing Ubiquiti interface that only contains APs atm. This includes wireless and wired user reporting, historical reporting, deep packet inspection and all sorts of nifty stats about the network.

The downside to that gateway is that it requires a PC running the UniFi controller at all times. Fortunately the UniFi Cloud Key replaces the need for a PC, as it runs the UniFi controller. As a nifty extra perk, it lets you access and control your network from anywhere.

What you guys think?

I ordered both of those on Thursday. Expecting it by next Friday :)

I find it a little ridiculous that the Gateway doesn't run the controller and that they sell you a whole separate product to do that.

Just seems like a not-so-cheap cash in by Ubnt.

Re the second device, apparently the controller s/w can be run on a raspberry pi - so that's a cheaper option (not done it myself but there are support articles available)

I'd just run PFSense on a PC with a wireless card that has extension cables to nice antennae and be done with it. All logging can be done on the device and you can e-mail that and optionally set up SMS alerts, bla bla bla. Buying a second device just to enable real-time logging just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah but I would seriously expect a Gateway to be a stand alone device.

WTF.

For the money you might as well get a Sophos UTM device then.

You can run the controller on a PC. You don't need a cloud key.

Yes I know, I've implemented plenty of these.

I think half the problem is that they built it on this archaic Java based platform (from what I remember).

Fact is for that money and combining the two devices you can do a Sophos UTM.

Or if you have a PC and it's for home use do the Sophos UTM Home Edition and you don't need the expensive Gateway device at all.

If you want an enterprise level solution for home that is.

Thing is Ubiquiti isn't very mature in this market and in my opinion it shows.

****

Note I love their products.

Hmm, i just had that as well. My router just lost connection, and my internet light went red. Reboot and it was okay again, but that happened about 3 or 4 times. Tried both my Afrihost and CW trial account. So im praying its not again a line issue.
