Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

I just wanted to see it for myself. It's quite amusing that the template was updated for logos and some minor details.

VAT and address has been changed.

In my opinion, that is pretty unprofessional. I cant be a part of something, where a company cannot even get their own personal invoice. That is not a good sign

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with it. The scripts that generate these invoices are quite robust at this point and it's better to just port them and work on prettying them up later instead of reinventing the wheel.

Here is my question again. If Evonet has taken all of CW's assets, building, staff, liabilities, etc etc why have they not taken on the debt from CW?

Again, if CW owes openserve millions, why are Evonet still maintaining the website, the staff etc, if they have taken over the responsibility of being the new owners. When a company takes over another one, you are expected to take on whatever debt that comes with it, or re enter negotiations with those the previous company owes money to.

I still have plenty of questions, as to how it came about that Evonet would take over CW's client base, without proper consultation with us, before putting many into a position they currently find themselves in. Personally i paid my dues to CW, a company i entered an agreement with. At no point, should my details have been shifted without my knowledge and what the consequences might be that follows. I did not default on my payment, neither did those who have been affected, and the ethical thing to do by both CW and Evonet management, was to send out a formal notice to its clients, that they have the option to stay or move.

I dont mind journalists digging around, but i also think if you want to know the proper story, then make contact with those at fault, and demand an explanation as to why things have taken a turn for the worse.

Hi - Your ADSL line order has been rejected by Telkom, due to a pending order on the line on their system. Please urgently contact Telkom on 10210 or visit a Telkom Direct store and enquire as to when the pending order will be complete. Regards, Afrihost

Lol sigh... So i have a pending order with Telkom.

At this point, should you be paying [legally] for non service / non compliance?

I mean those banking details floating around could very well be my banking details...

The details that will mean something should be the ones on an invoice or statement.

That seems relatively easy to sort out. Afriman to have a look. Contact him by PM.

Good news on my part, OpenServe were able to release the wholesale message preventing Telkom from taking over the line. Telkom Sales this morning have confirmed that the process to move the DSL line rental to my name has started, I can expect downtime from 3 to 5 days or it might be quicker they can't say for certain but at least I am getting control back :D. Just means no Internet for the week and possibly the weekend but small pain for larger gain :D.

Isn't the DSL line rental in your name the same as Telkom taking it over? Since Openserve = Telkom? (for the purposes of this discussion anyway)

Yes but Telkom Sales were not able to take over the line due to a pending message

Due to collection. Hard Suspend. Suspended
Is my line status.

Telkom Technical finally confirmed it is in the holding pool but Telkom Sales are not able to do anything because it has not yet been released fully. CW being under are unable to release the line fully since OpenServe/Telkom took control of the line. So what the heck is going on...

It is similar to the error message that @Icemanbrfc and others will be getting with Afrihost and other ISP's. I had to phone OpenServe and request the status to be removed, then phone Telkom Sales back and ask for the line rental to reflect on my Telkom account but with no data as I will use another ISP. OpenServe and Telkom may be the same company but they seem to have a firewall of sorts between departments. If I had just left it alone then the line will have been cancelled and I would have had to order a whole new line.

So yeah life is confusing but hey I get my line back and can now swap and choose ISP at my leisure.

Ahh right. Happy you got it sorted - still waiting for Telkom to activate my ADSL (again). And to remove the uncapped data account they slapped on there.
Slowly but surely we'll all get ourselves online again. #CWrefugees

So the important question now is, what other ISP offers the same breakout as EvoNet (via the new submarine cables to the US and western Europe?). Latency has been really good since the EvoNet switch, and while I still want to have that latency I don't want to have ANYthing to do with EvoNet/CW anymore.

Same same, I got the same and Afriman said to be patient, its with the OS Account manager...

How many days is easy? it's taking a while?>

So this will now be the interesting part. You are getting Afrihost to talk to OpenServe to then cancel that message and take over your line. If that message is cancelled then it should take the same amount of time as what I am going to experience, 3-5 days. Let's see who gets Internet connect back first :P.

BTW I love the hashtag #CWrefugees

Patience people, patience. The "3 to 5 day type statements are just the legalese introduced to protect against being attacked. It probably will happen sooner.

Telkom Group has at least two legs these days, a Wholesale group and a Retail group. There has to be a firewall between the two to ensure no bias towards Retail.
Hence why you must not think they are the same. Yes it adds to some "delays" when dealing with Telkom as the retail agent for us ordinary plebs.
Telkom Retail does not get any beneficial treatment over any other ISP in this case. In fact, they are probably at a slight disadvantage, to ensure that Telkom group does not get accused of bias.
The CW matter is quite a mess, where things are more complicated in an already procedurally challenged process.
Under normal circumstances, us ordinary ones do not have direct contact with Wholesale. Our contact is via Telkom Retail.
Here is the rub, many of us feel that in the case of ASP service provision, that Telkom Retail do not always understand that a customer is only asking ADSL connectivity, and does not also want Telkom ISP services as well.
That is a training and experience issue within Telkom Retail.
This mess has once again exposed the lack of understanding of ordinary employees in Telkom Retail about "how things work" in general.

This just in... Open Serve wants me to fork out 3 barr before that will allow me to migrate the 5 DSL lines that we have.

There should be no downtime
