Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

The outgoing connections are sorted via the scheduler(s) on the torrent clients.

Well if the client is set to be inactive by its scheduler, then the incoming connections won't do anything either.

You'd think. I also thought so. Then I probed the traffic.

PS: I did mention earlier that it is a low throughput traffic, but it is there. Don't want to get that point lost in the discussion. It's the approach I've taken, by CW are putting a solution in place to avoid false positives on the shaper.

Was there actual data transfer, or just connections being established?

Traffic around ±1-5kbps per connection. Number of connections dependent on popularity of the torrent. I assume it's connection requests that are repeatedly refused. But they don't go away. The same IPs keep hitting the client on that port until the scheduler releases it. All day long.

CW, Paul, DJ, please look at my previous posts if possible and tell me if a account like this will be possible for me and need be if there will be a cost increase and what it is before I do my EFT.

Yes, and we are in fact looking to change the default shaping policy now too to accommodate this having taken on board everyone's feedback. There will be an email sent tonight with the new products, what we're doing for existing customers, and the way forward for you all. Please don't delay your payments though in lieu of this as the new automated system will suspend unpaid accounts unless I manually intervene.

Meh... Will withhold ALL my monies!...

Then again, after yesterday afternoon I am beyond flat broke and payday can't come soon enough.

Debit order will help me a lot here. :D BUT I know now that you guys are still finalising things and so for this to happen, will wait patiently.

I like the instant messenger online support. Who's currently responding? I'm trying to sign up...

If you looking for sympathy, you not going to get it here. If you knew you were going to abuse the account, you should have offered to purchase an account that was suited to your needs beforehand. You effectively ripped off the ISP by going overboard and now you are complaining that you aren't offered any other options.

I agree uncapped should be uncapped yes, but unless Telkom leads the way, the hands of ISP's are tied. Im not for one second saying these guys don't make money, but surely if you paying R300 a month and downloading 700gigs, they are going to make a huge huge loss. Im very sure I did about 200 gigs this month and I've heard no complaints.

I've changed my approach to downloading. When looking at big files, I ask myself whether I really am going to watch it/use it, and if I don't need it, I don't bother downloading it. People seem to add items to their queue for the sake of it. We've learnt with OW that having big downloaders is simply not sustainable. Nothing has changed..

you are missing the point.

they should not have taken me on as a client knowing in advance that I'm a large data user.

when I asked them if it would be a problem they said NO.

when I asked if the file hosting service I'm using would be a problem they said NO.

I have been honest from the start about the amount of data I use. unfortunately CW made a U-turn.

I have only been offered other offers in the receipt of my cancellation.

and just to set the records straight - data after hours more or less cost about nothing, that's why Cybersmart can offer 1000gb at R99 and Vox uncapped Bolton at R59 per month. and Webafrica 50gazillion for free...

daytime data's another story. staff cost a fortune per gig and IPC and other charges bring it up to a substantial amount per gig.

I do not like the constant buffering of HD media and I'm having problems with my eyes watching bad quality thus I'm downloading 1080 files and watch them without constant buffering and digital errors. unfortunately 1080 files can be anything from 25 - 49gb without much difficulty.

unfortunately CW had been thrown in at the deep end and they should have stopped it immediately till they had been ready to launch their products.

@Crystal Web

Payment made this morning. Will we still be having unshaped the next month :)

I'm not going to correct your posts line by line - this thread really isn't intended for that sort of a thing. You have had your say and to be honest we're not going to extend any specials or new offers your way, so we part ways - it's very simple. Cheers and all the best, mika1000.
