Customs help

I am hoping that it just "arrives" at the post office. I phoned customs and it wasnt on their system yet even though it should have been in the country at least 3 weeks ago.
I am just going to pop in every few days to see if its there.

That is exactly what happened to me. It was in the country for 7 weeks before I actually got the slip to say the package was at the post office. USPS first class mail is not actually first class, it's the cheapest international mail option that USPS offers. My package was also 'first class' but still took forever. One of the ladies I spoke to at SAPO told me that some USPS first class mail never actually gets scanned in in SA which is why the packages are not picked up on the system, yet they will arrive at the post office.

From my past experience, I would say give another 2 weeks or so and then go to your local post office to see if it is there.

Awesome, thanks for the info!

The parcels are still sitting in the containers. They haven't scanned them into the country yet.

The moment they scan it into the country you will get a JIMC date/timestamp.
My last location is also the fact that it left the US on the 18th.

I'll let you know when mine scans in.
Just note, I received two parcels recently that took less than a month from the time it left the border there, through JIMC, through customs, through to Cape Mail and then to my post box. So there is currently a backlog hence me phoning today.

Have you had your parcel scanned in yet?

Nopes, still waiting. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since it left the US. Waiting patiently. Rather expensive package so it better arrive.
Any news on your side?

Same story with me. Mine is also a rather expensive package that you battle to get here so mine better arrive or i will lose my $h1t

So if it’s expensive why cheap out on shipping?

I bought a $129 item recently.

Shipping and pre-customs clearing was $45 but it was here in 5 days.

No guessing or wondering. Guaranteed.

It’s only been three weeks.

After six weeks you worry.

And next time use a real courier.

I did not "cheap out" on shipping, a more expensive/reliable service was not available. The person who shipped it will come to the party if my parcel does not arrive. However my concern is the fact that this coming Thursday will be 6 weeks since it left the US and it is still sitting in a container at JIMC.

I agree with you that if a better alternative is available that people rather take that. It still saddens me that our country has come to this.

I wouldn’t be too quick to judge the country, this is the standard everywhere really which is why dedicated couriers are still in business.

But I understand now.

Oddly enough I went to eBay instead of the supplier directly because they didn’t offer enough shipping options.

Will definitely take your advice and use better shipping options next time if available.

In the meantime I'm gonna hold thumbs that my parcel arrive in time.

My shipper also didnt offer any other shipping option so USPS was the only one I could choose.
Next time I will use a different seller.

No luck my side either...

I am 7 weeks in and still no scan in for my item. I am hoping it still goes through customs

Hi Dalem44,

I ordered a package using USPS First Class International on the 7th of February and it's still not here. I asked for advice from several other friends based on their experience with First Class International. The one told me he never gets slips with them, so he chose to visit the post office once a month and asked them to check for a package with his name. He said his more recent experience he received it only after 5 months, and then I had another friend who told me hers took 8 months. I'm actually really worried as to whether I will be getting my package or not. The worst part is that I feel deceived since the website specified that First Class International has tracking, yet they don't actually have an agreement in SA to continue tracking within our country, therefore that's why it doesn't get updated on the tracker.

You guys tried Aftership to see if they have any different information?

@SauRoNZA unfortunately Aftership only displays up to the point it has left the US. First Class International packages don't get scanned in South Africa so there won't be a single website that has any further details (can confirm since I've done a lot of research). Kind of have to wait and hope for the best.

I have a package incoming from Wish via China Post.

Jun 03 - Handed over to Courier / Left for Destination.
June 27 - Incomming International (yes their spelling mistake)
June 27 - Incomming International JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB)\

But I guess it depends who it comes from and where.

Anyone have any luck or any advice on how I can find my parcel? It's been 2 months and have not been able to find where it is

Friend of mine ordered a Xiaomi Note4 on 13 May, as well as accessories separately.

The accessories arrived today...
Phone still waiting....but apparently it's at Cpt Hub now.

Package sat at JIMC alone for more than a month.

2 Months delivery...

If I search on http://www.southafricanpostoffice.post/ I see the following:

Local date/time Activity Location
5/22/2017 2:43 PM Posting/Collection MYKCHA
5/22/2017 4:04 PM Departure from outward office of exchange MYKCHB
6/17/2017 8:43 PM Arrival at inward office of exchange JIMC A

Does that mean it is still unprocessed in customs in JHB? I assume we cannot do much to get it processed faster?

Amusingly enough if I search on http://trackmyparcel.co.za/ it has more recent data:
JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB) From Customs Friday, July 7, 2017 12:51:00
