This tale starts with a young man setting out on a journey to find the mythical Xbox 360 Jasper edition... This is his epic journey:

So I woke up early this morning to raid Tygervalley Centre in search of a Jasper unit. My shop choices where high since I had Game, CNA, Musica CD & DVD, Incredible and BT Games at my disposal. Although things did not go according to plan....

First up was Game who currently has the Xbox Arcade on special + FREE Xbox controller. This seemed like the best possible deal so I decided to visit Game first. After inspecting three! 16.5 Zepher units I skipped over to CNA where the 2 units inspected was also (shock!) Zephers.

Next up was Musica DVD & CD stores (who strangely advertises the arcade with 256mb internal memory). Looking at the advert I felt almost sure that I would find the Jasper unit here. The advertisement was wrong so after 2 Zephers and 2 Falcons I gave up and went to Incredible Connection. These folks however didn't want me to open the barcode flap so my last option was BT Games.

Standing in front of the BT Games clutching my thumb I knew this was my last chance. To my extreme disappointment I was informed that they don't even stock the arcade units! I officially ran out of options.

With my hand in my hair I frustratedly (after searching for a hour and a half) went outside to have a calm down smoke. I looked at my options being a.) take the falcon :( or b.) go home empty handed. I was almost ready to accept the falcon idea when I spotted the mini mall (willowbridge) across the road. There was one shop left. I quickly crossed the road and stormed into Look & Listen begging someone to let me inspect the arcade box. To my surprise the first one out of storage was 12.1. I immediately bought the unit and rushed home.

This is how my journey ends....or is it? When I got home I discovered another unexpected surprise. Not only did the box include a free copy of Sega SuperStar Tennis but it also included a very unexpected free 512Mb Memory Card + holder and a free copy of Team 17s' Worms.

My day was a success.

we've all been there searching for some mystical, hard to find item..... glad you got it in the end!
 
Did your Jasper come with the old dashboard? Mine did ... and it's odd :/

It DOES say 12.1 ... but no new dashboard

Yep, came with old dash...which lasted about 4 mins on my unit before it become NXE dash :p

I'm just happy about the bonus 512mb stick. I prefer putting my saves on them in case my console (god forbid) decides to give problems.

Where'd you get the link?

I've downloaded a system update file, burnt it to disc and it says 'mixed media'. After googling, a ton of people have the same issue.

Don't new game disks come with NXE, though?
 
Got it on - thanks :P

The newest game I have here was Halo Wars (included in the bundle) and it never had it :/ Tried Sega Megadrive Classics which is quite new, and also nothing

Most new games should although the chances of additional updates after the games' release is high. I'll rather just log in with my profile and download the latest version.

Strangely this seems limited since every arcade jasper international thread I read never stated anything like this. I can however see the reason behind SA having the mem card included since our retail stores don't stock Xbox Hard Drives. Well these 512mb cards aren't cheap so I'm pretty happy about it.

Heh, yeah. I sign into LIVE every time I switch on my Xbox, so updates have never been an issue for me. I got NXE within minutes of it being released. :P

It boggles my brainbox that some people still don't have internet access at home.

True but internet is expensive...so I just log onto Live now and then since 3G isn't that great.
 
Judging from this thread , I'm assuming that the Jasper unit is the better 360 console to get right now. How do you tell if a unit is Jasper unit or not?

I'm intending to get a new 360, and, my sights are on an Arcade console which comes with Sega Super Star Tennis. Any idea what console this is?

I'm not sure if it's that amount but yeah I got free goodies :D

This is the basic summary.

Zepher (16.5a), Falcon (14.2a), Jasper (12.1a)

Game = Zepher (no internal memory) + 256Mb MC + Free Controller = R2459
CNA = Zepher or Falcon (no internal memory) + 256Mb MC = R2499
Musica = Zepher or Falcon (no internal memory) + 256MB MC + Sega Tennis = R2499

L&L = Jasper (256Mb Internal) + 512Mb MC + Sega Tennis + Worms = R2499

P.S - Also not that I received the actual Jasper 150W PSU and not the higher one from the Falcon/Zepher units.

So yeah, Look & Listen has by far the best deal.
