What if there was some sort of 'magical portable device' that could allow you to watch DSTV anywhere, anytime - away from your fixed installation DSTV home decoder setup... using ONE DSTV Premium account and multiple users...

OH WAIT! That actually WAS a reality - about a decade or so ago - now THAT'S progress for you...

Would be nice if the romantics at the M-Net Group got rid of the brash red hearts on the MM1 and MM4 logos now, it's already 10 days past Valentines' Day :- (

I still have my Walka and my Drifta ... those were the absolute bomb for weekend camping

Walka's rocked, with the advent of fibre, I would buy one right now, hell would even camp outside the store selling them, now that we are switching off analogue transmitters, there is scope in the wireless budget for a fairly low bit rate broadcast signal... I would pay R50 a day for access...

For a while now, I have been having problems with Explora 1 and Explore 2 scheduling across all my main recording channels: 115,120,117,194 & 181.

Show are being dropped off the schedule due to wrong description but sometime would just reappear. I had all my 194 shows just disappear, I set up a manual recordings but later in the week the Exploras magically found the episodes. (On a side note Etv aired the Friday episode of Days of our lives again today.)

On 117 Friday nights there is a double bill of a show called Private Eyes at 20h00 & 20h50. Multiple times the Explore 1 has either failed to pick up the 20h00 episode at all, or it gets lost during the week. Once it suddenly found the Saturday repeat.

Earlier in the month on 120 Who wants to be a millionaire went missing as well.

181: Complete stuff up with season 21 of air crash investigator. 17 minutes of episode 4, then it completely disappears of the schedules for about 2 weeks. Suddenly reappears. Number and descriptions completely wrong, just let it record. Haven't a clue what I actually recorded as I don't watch this show regularly.

115: The 17:00 & 18:00 are also a problem. Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Blue Blood has all had episodes just get dropped off the scheduling. Tomorrow March 1st 115 schedule is a complete mess. Bob hearts Abishola season 2 repeat double bill has just appeared, Blue Blood is suddenly an hour and 10 minutes long, Chicago Fire is now on after 20h00 and Law and Order Organized crimes has disappeared all together. I hope they fix this, I don't even know if I should attempt manual recordings with this mess. On another side note, recorded Evil a couple weeks ago, just disappeared off the playlist. Nobody has owned up to deleting it. I don't believe anybody would have either.

Another thing my Exploras used to automatically pick up if multiple seasons of show was being aired one after another and didn't need me to set it, that has stopped. I also don't understand why you can no longer delete manual seasons from your season manager anymore either.

Sadly it's a wide spread problem, MC seems to no longer care about reasonable accuracy and reliability with endless errors and weird things happening on the EPG (guide).
Most of us aren't bothered to report this anymore, just do your best.

One particular new example I'm having is extra troubling in that there's now sometimes no syncing between the online info and what's on the Exploras.
ch. 106 on Wed. 2 March from about 02:05 to 03:50 - on the Explora it recently changed to suggest the movie will be "Mermaid Down" but after two days on the online guides it still says the movie will be "Crypto".

I've been checking 115. It is a complete mess from today on wards. Using the online guides, I'm going to have to make a note of all the programs and their times I want to record and do it manually. I prefer the automatic season setting in case of last minute time changes and the Exploras can adjust as needed. This is pathetic!

I sent an email to [email protected]. I don't know if it will do anything but maybe if others also complain, maybe they will fix what is actually a basic part of their service.

The unwanted "Mermaid Down" is what recorded, so looks like we can presume (for now) that the Explora info is more reliable than their online sources.

/done, don't have time for this.

I'm having trouble with my explora 1.
1. After formatting hard drive catch-up and Box-office failing to load (says service not available in your country/region)
2. Can record but failing to watch recordings.
3. No EPG information.

You didn't specify how recent the format was, but assuming it's today, you'll have to give it some time to populate.I did it around 08:00hrs and the "tech" guys at a multichoice branch also did several formats around 16:00hrs yesterday, 01/03/2022

Black screen again after changing channels on MiBox. They just can't get it right . Guess I can't complain while getting premium for free after cancelling for 3 years, suckers .

Performed a HDD format several times, last one was around 16:00 hours on Monday 01/03/2022. Today catch-up and Box-office hasn't loaded up to now.

MultiChoice and eMedia have signed a new agreement to continue to broadcast eTV (194), eNCA (403) and the daily Afrikaans News bulletin on kykNet (144) on DStv. This agreement is effective from 1 April 2022.

The channels that were part of the previous agreement are eTV, eNCA, eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra and eToonz. This agreement will expire at the end of March 2022. eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra and eToonz are not part of the new agreement and these channels will no longer be available on DStv from 1 April.

Received through the grapevine;

Maybe try a front panel factory reset. Remember you will loose all stored & recorded content and settings and it will take a while for content to start downloading.

Hold the POWER button on your decoder down, till the front panel shows a blank screen 2. Then hold down the P+ button, until CODE appears on the front panel 3. Then press: P- (0 will appear on the front panel) 4. Then press P+ (01 will appear on the front panel) 5. Then P- again (010 will appear on the screen) 6. Then P+ again (0101 will appear on the screen) 7. A blinking HDDF will appear on the front panel of your Explora 8. Then press P+ to confirm (hold down for 5 seconds) 9. Do not interrupt the process until you see PASS displayed on the front panel 10. LOAD will appear on the front panel. Please wait for the process to complete which will take a few minutes 11. You’ll know it is done when your pictures start playing again 12. Please check your playlist – if it is blank, then the formatting was successful. If it is not, then you need to do the steps again.
