More about the cut / don't cut of some eTV channels from DStv - turns out it's being argued legally! :giggle:

DStv only has space for 11 more channels — if it cuts four from E-tv

MultiChoice has hit back at eMedia’s arguments over satellite bandwidth capacity being a reason for the Pay-TV broadcaster dropping four E-tv channels from its DStv bouquets.

Just based on how many channels MC has dropped over the last couple of years and how many useless test channels are "in use", I would say their argument is likely BS.
But who knows why eMedia even have an argument, it was just a private contract for these extra channels...

Everything is now on one menu, likely to confuse many.
Word Search has got even worse, it now doesn't include Box Office or Catch Up anymore :oops:
Default for "Movies" shows me just one title, wow! With the effort of moving it from Featured to All that is then sorted.
The guide (yes, also part of the menu now) is awkward and I think shorter, Planner and Download shortcuts are gone...

I'll leave other surprises for us to all find ourselves :popcorn:
 
Warning - using or changing to Posters instead of Text while in listing sections like Movies \ Box Office can now cause a freeze crash.
A power-button toggle into Standby and back may help fix that, else reboot.

Oh who are they kidding about needing extra space on their satellite? They've done away with more channels than they have launched new ones. If they let the consumer vote on which channels to clear away and what to keep they'll have plenty of space for Etv channels. I know about 85-90% of the offering on Compact I'd do away with.

I hate it, they have cluttered up areas that didn't need a makeover. I wonder if they fixed/undo their episode renaming mess up. I record Blacklist off Etv and they tend to go a bit weird with the episodes names. During season 4 I had to renamed some episodes and it changed as it should have. With the episode name itself changing. During season 5, the episode name isn't changing, but the name for episode on top of the summery is. Not really helpful.
 
I'm not going to waste more of my time, let's just say there's too many other new Explora bugs to even consider the product safe anymore :thumbsdown:
 
According to the newer guide, we're getting a new channel - 113 Mzanzi Live

It says "Events Channel", so maybe just a pop-up.
 
They've messed up use of ARC to delete favourites a few times before, weird they're doing it again.


Some "useful" discoveries;

In the Playlist, first use the down arrow once (which will highlight "All") and then ALT will work to take one to the Schedules.

Do not use Return (back arrow) if in Schedules or you end up losing the top of the menu info and the software can then remain confused.

Some new shortcuts of a sort.
For Download menu (Catch Up Plus), move one left from the Playlist.
For Movies (All), press the Box Office button then move one left.
For Settings, move one right from Apps (OK button).
For Planner (direct menu for Schedules, Season Manager and Create Manual Recording) move one left from Apps.
 
Other rubbish, happened a few times now - Explora remote response freezes until I toggle it into standby and back via the front panel :sleep:
This started before the update.
 
This morning I've got the "We are loading latest movies" message superimposed on my list of movies, can't get rid of it. Maybe a reboot sometime...

This is child-level software.

Better news, the other type of search fills in these gaps - press the search button while in many other places in the menu and it checks Box Office and Catch Up as well as Showmax if you have it.

So survivable changes, but still horrible IMO. Anyone here like any of it?
 
To delete items from the TV Show You're Watching list one now has to use P- instead of ARC. When you press i on a title in the list the message now says that as well. The new A10 remote no longer has an ARC button. It also doesn't have TV Guide, Playlist, Catchup or BoxOffice buttons - everything has to be accessed via the Home screen by scrolling left or right.
