Depression.

It's no inconvenience at all, and for what it's worth, please do feel free to post here and or PM if you want to talk. :)

Thanks.
Need to get back on the meds
Just feels like life has fell apart, been so stressful at work with a multi billion rand project.
Ill little one, more stress and the thinking of nothing more

I tried stopping a while ago. Went fine until I hit a stress period, then it went tits up.
The wife is starting to think she's not desirable or that I'm getting it somewhere else, hence the need to fix it.

Obvious question maybe, but is she aware of your depression?

And the drugs relating to it?

I often see people will talk quite easily about their problems online and people assume that those closest to them know all about it, but this is very rarely the case.

Myself included.

Thanks.

Hey man, feeling a bit better today? I have never experienced depression so have no idea what you are going through but I hope you are feeling a bit better today.

Although I dont know you please feel free to let me know if there is any way in which I can help, even if its something small like contributing for a supper for you and the missus or you and the family.

I was googling bromazepam and aggression and came across this link. Am I reading this right that this medication can push you over the edge?

My husband's depression was making a comeback and the doctor prescribed him bromazepam (6mg I think) . The next day he turned into a monster and it didn't end well. He got home from work yesterday and he was fine. He took a bromazepam around six, and a bit later I could see him becoming irritable and a bit angry. Could there be a link between this medication and his monster episode ?

(Disclosure - I've been on Bromazepam, Lorazepam and of course Diazepam and I don't recall any of them making me aggressive. But then I was addicted to them so perhaps I don't remember)
I'm wondering if the cause of your husband's monster episode was perhaps a product of the underlying cause of his depression? You say it occured the day after he was put on Bromazepam..could be the chemical hadn't had time to work properly?

His antidepressant dosage was also adjusted so I just don't know. I can't even begin to describe how irrational he was. Last year it was simvastatin that messed with his mind, but it was nothing compared to this episode.
I read that bromazepam is supposed to work within 2-3 hours, but last night when he took it at six, he only started feeling sleepy around 11pm.

If it is in fact the Bromazepam that is causing your husband's aggression, I'd say that's a pretty rare reaction to a benzo. Looking at the link you sent, there are many other drugs generally involved as well, and who knows what underlying conditions those particular people have in the first place.

But it's impossible to say, really. What is his other medication?

Cipralex. I think it may just be the bromazepam though, because my son asked me a little while ago, why was dad angry again yesterday. He's usually the calmest person unless his depression flares up and then a dosage adjustment of his antidepressant soon has him feeling himself again. He sticks to the minimum dosage when he's feeling good so he can always increase it when he needs to.

Edit
Just remembered, he also received a Voltaren injection and a steroid injection at that doctor's visit the day before the incident.

Any progress guys?
I was switched to serdep and dosage increased about a month ago. But this month has been absolutely schit. So I can't really say if it's working or not. I'm very angry and upset but I believe that's because of what's going on right now

Yup. Very often I'm tempted to tell people who tell my husband that he doesn't need antidepressants that they should stop taking their own medication for their various ailments.

Regarding my previous posts on this page, my husband is back to his usual charming self. A month on 15mg didn't see a lot of improvement. He was still very irritable, still getting angry. Doctor increased his dose to 20mg and a week later he was feeling so much better.

Anyway Doc said he could switch to the generic lexamil. Won't be doing that again. Two doses and monster man made a reappearance.

Serdep took an absolute age to kick in for me. On 100mg for around 6 months now. Thinking of tapering off.

Im on Wellbutrin, This stuff does not remove your sex drive at all, im pretty sure it actually makes one more horny :P

And I have to admit, the pills are working, im feeling good :-)

I got switched to this as well but I don't really feel its effect.

So, if history is anything to go by I am probably making a terrible mistake, but I must try these things.

I've gone of my meds (Mirtazapine). A couple months ago, I also got a prescription for a very strong tranquiliser. I've now successfully withdrawn from both of these. The reason I have done so is I am concerned about the cognitive impairment that these drugs can effect. The tranquiliser, which very effective at dealing with anxiety basically turns your life into a foggy mess, and the Mirtazapine has profoundly sedating properties.

While I do this, I have completely stopped drinking alcohol. I suspect that booze is a large part of my general chemical imbalance, and I am hoping that in its absence I will have the fortitude to prevail without drugs.

Time will tell. I'll check back in a couple weeks. :)

To everyone who is struggling - Strength.

Nee Copa you need to stay on mate.

I wish tranquilizers worked for me, serdep seems to counter their effect. I only use them for flying. I popped a valium, rivotril and another on a 12 hour flight, no results. Very frustrating.

You mean what's going on with your meds?
