Did I just get rejected?

Long story short: Woman tells me that we should get together some time. A week or so later I tell woman that I'd like to take her up on her offer to meet and ask if she is free this weekend. Woman says she is busy Friday but will let me know about Saturday. Woman then immediately says that she lives far though, emphasising the point about living far.

Why did woman emphasise the fact that she lives far? Why say we should meet then raise the issue of travel distance?

I am an awkward panda when it comes to woman, so I am not very good at reading them. I also have the habit of over-analysing things and reading too much into them, so could be another of my mountains fabricated out of a molehill.

She basically hinted to the fact that you should go and pick her up :p

She wants a lift.

Allows you to say "well if I'm travelling so far to drop you off... it will be too late to drive back so I better stay over" ;)

What ages are we talking here?

How did you meet here?

Do you know her background?

That's not rejection, let Mr Rejected34timesfromonlinefirstdates here let you tell you that!
(I like to joke I'm so good at first dates that they never need a second one)

She's basically pointing out distance is difficult for her, but that's obvious. What might not be obvious is the next step is really just either offering to pick her up (unlikely to be accepted for a first meeting - it happens yes - but women SHOULD be cautious about men on a first date) or to meet her somewhere CLOSE TO HER. Either research locations or ask about somewhere she feels comfortable and isn't hard for her to get to.

Tl;dr: **** E-Tolls.

So why do you harp on all the other crap when she already said that you two should get together?

Yep you are "over-analysing things and reading too much into them".

Jeez! Take the lady out on a date FFS!

Meaning you need to stay over... Don't read so deep into it. Tell her it's fine if she has place for you to crash :p

I'm 26, she's 20. We work in the same building, different companies that deal with each other, so we met that way. Nope, I don't know too much about. A few months chit-chatting then exchanged numbers a couple of weeks ago. Some texting. Just think it is odd to initiate meeting up then seemingly deter it. I dunno.

Hah, nice responses other wise. Don't live that far away. 30-45 minutes on the freeway.

Maybe she just said she lives far because she felt like it?

The only thing you can do is make a plan for Saturday. Worst she can do is cancel.

No use speculating.

Her: "I live far away"
Translation: "You might have to spend the night"
